Maybe I'm missing something here but if your Medicaid paid for this machine then the DME you got it from must honor a warranty and/or loaner to fix this problem. Or they can trade you another used machine. Did I miss something here?
Yep.

He sold the machine he got through medicaid back when he gave up. Then he realized he needed to try again, but can't get a machine since it is too soon since the last machine. So, he is using a machine he got from a friend. That one would not be under warranty, at least by him, and probably older anyway.

So, basically, he's on his own until the time limit from the last machine (no idea how long he'll need to wait).

I would recommend Craigslist. I have seen autosets for $200-300, less if willing to go with an older model. Unfortuantely, this is not the place to ask for a freebie, especially after cursing at us.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Actually, the original post was an appeal for an AutoPAP. He stated yesterday that he changed the title of the thread to BiPAP because that's what he now believes he needs.

He's really had a very rough time - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=118964&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

And he wrote this three years ago on the day he joined:
I have suffered for a LOOOOOOOOONNNNNG time with apnea, and this is hopefully going to be a big step on the road to getting treated! So I want it to turn out right.
There is plenty of hope for him, but he is not going about the right way to get help here.
