Dream Station

Post by Barb (Seattle) » Sun Jul 02, 2017 10:08 pm

ugh

every since I have had this machine....almost a year and I have terrible #'s. 30+ apneas most nights, one was 52. I called my Dr. and no calls back.
I called my DME...no calls back.

so, I upped my pressure myself.

will see how tonight goes.

I think that obviously the prior pressure (16/12) isn't working.

eager to see what tomorrow's #'s will be.

I'm sorry to hear you've been struggling with that kind of numbers for so long. Maybe you could post your data on here and get some help figuring out the best settings for you. I'd be careful about doing much changing unless you feel you are informed enough to make those decisions. For instance, are any of the AHI events you report centrals? If so, it's not be a good idea to increase pressure without considering if they are pressure induced centrals. Are you familiar with Sleepyhead software? If not, there are instructions for using it at the top of the page in Pugsy's Pointers. Hopefully you can get your treatment optimized real soon. Those numbers look like torture.

Isn't 30 apneas a night considered normal? If you sleep 6 hours that is an AHI of 5. Or are you saying your AHI is 32? Because AHI of 32 is very high!

The machine has an SD card which contains all of your data. Using sleepyhead allows to you examine all the stats and every breath if needed. By posting charts of your data, chances are very good that this forum can help you.

ahhh never thought of that. I do have mixed apnea. I put it at 17/12 and had 45/hour. No phone calls yet

I am putting the pressure at 15/12 tonight to see how it goes....

I do have a card,, will look into sleepyhead (unless it's expensive, can't afford it if it is...)

It is free and necessary to avoid guessing. See pugsys tips towards the top.

go back to doctor, you need an asv to treat the centrals/clear airways with those numbers, as long as you have a good heart/ left ventricle

wow. the things I'm learning just since yesterday! thanks everyone

Intended use
Adaptive Servo Ventilation (ASV) is a non-invasive ventilatory treatment option created specifically for the treatment of adults who have obstructive sleep apnea and central and/or complex sleep apnea. It's one of the newer positive airway pressure (PAP) units on the market that continuously monitor the patient's breathing problem.

Centrals are called "clear airway" for DreamStation in SleepyHead, so you have that data.
