Dream Station
Re: Dream Station
If the centrals were there before cpap, the odds are you will keep them. If they are pressure induced, there is a very good chance they will be gone within 3 months, but in the interim they still need to be treated. the other machine that could treat it, is a ST AVAPS. Push for a sleep study titration

it was mentioned by my Dr. so will do that....
a while back (on the other machine I was on ) my apneas were well treated and my centrals were almost nil. that picture has
totally changed. I have lost 20 pounds I wonder if that's related.
I changed the pressure down to 15/12 will see how that works tonight.

Re: Dream Station
Have you been taking any medications? There are a boat load of CNS depressants that reduce the drive to breathe.
I also have a larger issue with CA than obstructive, although at the moment we've got things pretty low. My biggest issue is I can't sleep through any apnea ... even hypopnea if it goes on too long!
But yes, you need a sleep study urgently. Call and let them know your apnea is central.

Re: Dream Station
a sleep study would be the wisest action.
we don't know what the other machine was, or what you have now. My guess you were on cpap and went to bipap, the question to ask is why the change of machine, what were they treating with bipap, copd? discomfort?
if they were almost nil on cpap, you could go back to those settings, with the bipap, you could reduce the PS to 0 - 12/12 if there are no contra medical implications or simply switch to cpap mode and the ipap that worked for you before. don't use any pressure relief flex on exhale
it would help if you post the sleepyhead charts

Re: Dream Station
What changed since your last CPAP? Are you using the same mask and same hose, using the same pressure settings (before you started experimenting), and sleeping in the same bed in the same room? Has there been any change in your diet or medications? Have you lost or gained weight? Have you changed jobs, job duties, or work hours? Any new pets in the house? Anything else of that ilk?
Have you tested your machine to prove that it's functioning as set?

that's two separate and distinct machines.ajack wrote: the other machine that could treat it, is a ST AVAPS

I am on requip for PLMD, and occasional Tramadol for back pain, but other than that...no.aspen wrote:Have you been taking any medications? There are a boat load of CNS depressants that reduce the drive to breathe.

Re: Dream Station
I have been on Bipap for 7 years. I was on the Respironics M Series machine till this year. after 6 years it gave out so now the DreamStation. Yes, they went to BiPap because of aerophagia...which I still get but not like before...ajack wrote:a sleep study would be the wisest action.

Re: Dream Station
Ok I can't post pictures from my own computer (my sleepyhead isn't public) ???
last night I had 17 apneas. 16 were clear airway apneas.
central. So why use a machine if it's my brain forgetting to breathe?
I am so confused.
