Encore Pro pagination

Post by jskinner » Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:33 am

If I wake up in the night and turn of the machine to get a drink or go to the washroom then Encore Pro seems to create a whole new page in its report. This can mean that a nights report is broken up into two or more pages. Is there any way to suppress this behavior? I really just want all one nights report on one page...

Encore Pro pagination

Post by lferrel » Sat Sep 30, 2006 9:45 am

Hi jskinner,

With my Bipap Auto, Encore Pro has a line break for bathroom breaks, etc.. If the electricity is out, It skips to a new page.

I get a new page sometimes when the break is long. For example, if I get up at 1 AM and go to the den and watch TV and have my other Bipap on then go back early in the morning to resume my night's sleep with the original Bipap.

Lowell

BIPAP Auto BIFLEX set to range 12 - 20 cm H2O with BIFLEX set to 3, AUTO:ON, and Humidifier:2.

Hi, JSkinner,

This is going to be from left field, because I've not had that problem, etc.
Could it be that when you get up it is before midnight, and when you return to bed, it's after midnight? (machine thinks it is a separate event).
Could that be a factor?
I do believe there are more valid reasons, but "just a thought".

I have never had this problem and I am up with the machine off for several minutes at least two to three times per night. You might try just a disconnect without turning off. The machine know when there is no one connected. Maybe someone will have some other ideas for you to consider. I think that's the best thing about this site. (others with different experiences sharing ideas). Good luck!

From what I "know" and from what I've experienced, the "sleep day" runs from noon on one day till noon the following day. If you shut off your machine for more than an hour during that timeframe (middle-of-the-night break or whatever) it will start another "session" (chart), but will still include it for the "sleep day" period.

It seems to happen for me if I shut off the machine for just 2-3 minutes

I've tried that but the machine is too smart and shuts itself off before I get back...

I downloaded that file, but it says it has a problem opening it......

I have to leave for awhile, so maybe somebody else can take a look at it and see what's what.

James,

You might go into your program settings and see if you can see anything in there that might be causing it.

I went in and set my starting time at 9pm. Because I go to bed at 9pm if I have had a bad day. Usually asleep before ten pm. And I get up to answer natures call occasionally and it shows a small white area for that time frame.
I turn my machine off, take off my mask and come back, turn it on, then hit the heat button to start my HH and back to sleep.

I wonder if these Auto BiPAPs have an internal clock? Mine seems to know when I go to sleep, so I figured it must have an internal clock. NO????

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

James,

Try this link. perhaps editing the times under your "demographics" on the Encore Pro homepage might help. Maybe your setting are currently under the default setting of midnight to noon. I'm not positive of how the software translates the internal clock setting, all I know is before I changed mine from the DEFAULT times, it split my reports up constantly. Now I demographics page set to 10PM to 10AM

Good luck,

In reference to not turning off the machine. You say if shuts off automatically. You may be able to change this feature. Mine is set to start automatically, not shut off automatically.
I briefly looked at you charts. It might have something to do with the sleep period being over 8 hours. I am sure someone will come up with the correct answer. One other comment: It looks like your mask leaks quite a bit, but it doesn't appear to bother you. Maybe this is something you might want to think about. A lot of times folks on nasal masks open there mouths and don't realize it. A chin strap in most cases will fix the leaks that are above the normal vent leak for your particular mask. Most are about 20-30 LPM at 10 cm pressure. Hope this has helped.

Actually mask leaks bother me quite a bit, I just haven't been able to figure out how to stop them. I also get mouth leaks if I move from 6.0 to 6.5 cm. I would like to be able to increase my pressure but can't seem to until I figure out how to solve these two types of leak issues. A DIY chin strap seemed to only help minimally. Any suggestions?

James, you're battling two of the main things that can interfere with getting effective treatment -- mask issues and mouth air leak issues. Good luck!

Some fixes that work sometimes for mask leaks:

a homemade strap around the front, tied behind head

moleskin stuck to cushion to patch areas that are most apt to leak

hanging the main air hose up on headboard or wall to prevent weight of hose from tugging at a mask

try other masks (gets expensive!)

Dealing with mouth air leaks:

full face mask

tape or mouthguard
