Resmed S9 broken and out of warranty! What now?

Post by DeeCPAP » Sun May 07, 2017 6:52 am

My machine stopped working properly. I'm due a new one in August according to medicare rules.
Instead of showing how many hours slept each time I use it, it's adding up the hours over the few
days. It's reading 23.5 hours slept "last night". The AHI is based on the hours slept so now the
AHI is off. I'm *assuming* the pressure and the other things work properly.

What can I do now other than not buy a Resmed again because it's not trustworthy? Oh, and
my DME hasn't contacted me since I last emailed him about 2 months ago for a minor
issue.

Thanks.

Earlier today RogerSC suggested that you re-boot your machine...Did you do that? It was suggested that you download Sleepyhead...Did you do that?

Yes, I did. I slept 3 hours last night and it just added 3 hours to the 21 hours it had accumulated. The AHI was a fraction.

I've had SleepyHead for a while. I'll have to look at the stats after noontime because that's when last night's data will probably show up.

The S9 has a usage setting that can be day, week, or month. If that is what you are looking at, I'm guessing that the setting is week or month rather than day and the hours are accumulating night after night.

If you're reading 'last' night's stats after noon today that could explain it - machines count from noon to noon (not 6 am), so that may be the problem.

Yes, the day, week, month and year can be accessed by pressing the right buttons. The 23.5 out of 24 shows up under the
heading of DAILY. Today it's back to 0 hours. For the week it shows 7.7 and I'm nowhere near that since I average about 6 or 6.5 on a daily basis. It also shows the pressure for the week is higher than it should be. So, the daily hours of sleep is broken, and that causes the weekly hour. As long as it doesn't effect the other numbers it'll be okay, but I sure wish they'd give a longer warranty.

Are there any other CPAP machine that have a longer warranty? I don't want to have to invest in fixing it when I'm due a new machine from Medicare in August.

I've used the machine for quite some time, so I know the data turns over at noon. Last night the DAILY HOURS showed I slept for over 20 hours (just for the DAY). In actuality, it was more like 6 or 7 total.

I just took 30 minutes rest with the machine on and it registered .5 hours so it's okay today.
I don't see the "time" as in a watch or clock.

I DID notice that the RAMP is set to 20 and I want NO ramp. I don't know whether the tech
did it accidentally or the machine somehow malfunctioned in that area, too.

Thanks.

Yes, I understand noon to noon, but it said I used the machine 21 out of 24 hours just yesterday alone. That's WAY off.

Thanks, but I know how to look for day, week, month, etc., so that's not the problem. I made some readjustments
and will now wait a day and see what happens.

Thanks! I see one of the locations is in Florida. Is it the company or the forum user who
fixes the machines. Have any idea of the price if it's just a problem with the data collection?

I have no ideas about costs. You'd have to contact them for information.
A number of forum members have had them work on their machines and have been quite happy with their work.
I haven't had them do any work for me, but I did buy some parts from them to fix one of my machines back in 2010.
