If these machines "learned" anything then we wouldn't have to make adjustments ourselves to the settings... None of these CPAP machines are capable of "learning." They have algorithms that are pre-programmed to respond to certain situations. That programming does not change unless there is a firmware update. Palerider is right. Completely.

Well I have Loaner machine #3 now #2 lasted 20 minutes before it started beeping errors and the humidifier was throwing a fault code. Had 28k hours on the machine, had a new blower so the office manager figured something inside wasn't connected when the blower was replaced. (another system one A-Flex.) #3 is a AirSense 10 Auto Set with only 50 hours on it, but still at my old prescription settings and I have a heated hose this time. It's the "For Her" model. (It's so pretty!) Lol only other machine they could lend me till this paperwork snafu is over. But was given enough supplies and filters for a month. But I'll get the same machine basically so the filters and hose are mine to keep for the permanent unit. Cannot wait to see my data for tomorrow to compare it to the DreamStation.

Anyway Pale is 100% correct. The machine will NOT LEARN. It's just lightening fast at fixing things but he said setup pressures are extremely critical with an ASV vs Bipap or CPAP. And a well fitting mask is everything. Even the smallest leaks can throw the machines algorithms off. So my appt is set for a minimum of 2 hours to be sure they have me fitted right and they actually have a bed setup in the fitting room with one of the Buckwheat Pillows to test masks lying down.

er, no, modern machines are quite tolerant of leaks, that's not to say they shouldn't be addressed, often more for comforts sake, but machines have a fair range they can successfully operate in.

Good to know as I've torn loose my mask a few times or caused some leaks with the old machine. I just remembered waking up once on the last test being pounded and for the most part I just had a leak at my chin and as soon as I resealed it calmed down. It will
take some getting used to. I'm still on normal CPAP as they don't loan out ASV units. Lol.

On the Resmed AS10. Is the only place to see the AHI is in the clinicians menu? I'd rather see the number and not the smiley face, before I drop it in SleepyHead anyway. Im sure I'll be seeing a red frowny face tomorrow. I do like this interface a lot better than Respironics

Your can go into the clinical menu and changed "Essentials" from Usage to Plus and the AHI will show up on the LCD screen in the Sleep Report I think it is.

Perfect. Thanks Pugsy. Listed as events per hour, I saw essentials set to on, yet I never clicked it to see it had another option. I couldn't figure out the nosie after hitting warm up, didn't realize it turns the blower on really low. He did show me the cool down, that will run the machine after I shut it off.
