Re: Humidifier cannot lessen cpap therapy?

The afib event may have just been a one-off coincidence to your starting the humidifier... I can't imagine that it would provoke afib otherwise and have never heard of it happening. Doesn't really make much sense, so I suggest you try it again for a few nights to see what happens. There could be many other reasons for the afib to return after all. Most of us use a humidifier at some time and no one has said it gave them afib.

I may be terribly wrong in my understanding of AFIB, but when I was diagnosed two years ago my cardiologist commented thusly:
1) The cause is often unknown, not understood completely, or just a puzzle - all of which are true in my case. In any case, xPAP (with or without humidification) has never been seriously indicated as a cause of AFIB.
2) The common treatments for AFIB are a pacemaker with cardioversion, an ablation of muscle tissue in the heart, or anticoagulants - the ablation often has no effect and, in my case, was not an option; the anticoagulants only minimize the chances of a stroke; the pacemaker only effects a smoothing and"normalizes" the heart rhythm.
3) The net result is nothing is known to "cure" the condition or reverse it - only mitigate and control the results.
4) To expect xPAP therapy, with or without humidification, to be the magic bullet and effect a "cure" is wishful thinking. In any event the humidification's presence is totally irrelevant.

When diagnosed, my AFIB was occurring randomly and rarely; today, even while already having a pacemaker, being on anticoagulants, and being on APAP (with humidification) every night, my AFIB is constantly present and there is, thus far, nothing I can do about it. At this point in my life, my choices may be either take anticoagulants and live with it or do nothing and die from it - I choose the first option and not dwell on the second.

SleepyHead = software to monitor therapy efficacy
See: item one under "Announcements" on the home page viewtopic/t88983/Pugsys-PointersSleepyH ... ml#p816549
You should also post your equipment profile. It helps others understand the situation better and also indicates the level of data you may have available.

So WTF? You deleted everything? Why? So the next person with the question won't get an answer? Or do you have your panties in a twist because you didn't get an instant answer?
