Your post got me to thinking about the Dry Mouth Mouthwash that I use. I'm using the Walgreens Brand (W). In checking the ingredients, I see that it has Xylitol that has been discussed here. The W brand is very mild. I bought it since it's several dollars cheaper than Biotene. I did try a product called 'Act' for dry mouth but the stuff was horrible! Very strong and a burning sensation. I only tried it because the hygienist gave me a coupon for it.

My dentist gave me samples of Act.
That stuff is nasty enough to motivate better oral hygiene.

Yes, it has changed and it is unpleasant now.

It's unbelievable_- I always buy in bulk, so I had the horrors when I discovered the change. Please contact the manufacturer to complain--the new version basically burns the mouth, affects taste, and turns to water at once, needing swallowing, and no use therefore overnight. I already have my teeth wearing ulcers in my cheek when I talk, as the gel used to heal the tissues overnight. I will try the generic version, thanks for the tip, as I am absolutely frantic without it. The manufacturer is not planning to return to the old version, but if enough of us complain directly, maybe they will bring it back alongside the new?

The past two months, both my husband and I have switched to alcohol-free BreathRx which does contain xylitol and zinc.

Although it is expensive, you barely use a capful. I only use at night and no longer have morning dry mouth, nor does my husband have bad breath. We so impressed with the resolution of gingivitis and some reviews, have benefited from dry mouth.

I did complain on Amazon, on the Biotene manufacturer's website, and also brought it up with my dental hygienist. She was told by the Biotene rep that they were returning to the original formula but that is not what's happened -- the stores keep restocking with the new stuff, and now I'm even seeing TV commercials for Biotene and the "new and improved" label is showing on all their advertised products.

I am currently using the Rite-Aid brand 'biotene equivalent' because it's less unpleasant and burn-y, and still has the enzymes that the original Biotene had. I'm hoping the Rite-Aid manufacturers leave their formula alone. I'm also hoping the Biotene manufacturer feels the burn in their pocketbooks if not in their mouths , and goes back to original formula.

If anyone is interested in a different option, please check out NeutraSal. It is a rinse for dry mouth. You do have to have your doctor/dentist write a prescription, but if you have Rx. coverage, the pharmaceutical company pays the copayment. If you do not have Rx coverage, you are able to receive 4 boxes of 30 at no out of pocket cost.

NeutraSal is all natural. Aides is dry mouth and has healing properties and has the studies to back up.

I am the local Michigan rep., but if anyone wants more information, please contact me and I can send you an Rx to take to your doctor/dentist along with how to fill out the Rx.

My father is using NeutraSal as he has OSA and uses a CPAP and is also taking meds that dry his mouth out.

Note to lisacamp007: If you register, then you will be allowed to post a link to your product; like this:
http://www.neutrasal.com/
Since there is little information on that site, could you please supply further details?
I'm sure there are dozens (if not more) cpappers, who would like to try this product.
If you register, you will also be able to send and receive personal mail where you can
make arrangements with individuals for sources and samples.

I have been using since 1994 and am also shocked that all the important ingredients designed to restore the mouth to its original healthy state were removed. I just switched. Current Biotene is a huge disappointment. Corporate America cutting costs.

Xylitol also Helps with dry mouth on its own. My dentist recommended keeping Xylitol gum around and using it when my mouth feels dry. The xylitol increases salivation and the effect lasts quite a while. I use "Spry" comes in a tub, little rectangles like Chicklets. No good at night, but I salivate more than I used to now and I mostly don't have the problem at night anymore. I wear a dental night guard so I keep my mouth closed. I couldn't stand the taste of Biotene that's why the gum.

Unless I am missing something, this doesn't seem to be available in the US. Any time frame as to when it will be? Would love to know since I haven't found Orajel and Biotene to be helpful.

An old thread but still relevant. About the time KG posted this I switched to Orajel Dry Mouth Moisturizer (I changed from Biotene). Orajel is a thick gel and lass all night. I think it tastes minty and nice. It appears not many brick and mortar stores have it but I get it online. Sometimes I look around for cheaper prices but I usually get it here:

http://www.dentist.net/products/orajel- ... rizing-gel

I don't swallow during the night so about half an inch keeps my mouth moist all night... a tube lasts me about a month, so not too expensive considering that. Dry mouth is bad for one's teeth.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

This is an old post, but I would still like to point out this is a rinse. It might be good, although very expensive, for use during the day. But, what are you going to do at night? Get out of bed and rinse every hour or so?

The best solution for nighttime use while using CPAP is a good gel. I use Orajel for Dry Mouth (http://www.drugstore.com/orajel-dry-mou ... tid=340685). One application just before I put the mask on lasts all night. Occasionally I will wake up about 5:00 a.m., make a second application and sleep another hour or two.
