Panic at thought of CPAP.
Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
Well Snoopster, you've definitely got something. What it is exactly isn't clear. I doubt coming to this forum any further is likely to yield any benefits for you in your current mind-set. Hope you get whatever it is fixed, and that you don't shorten your life due to untreated OSA.

I wonder how a pen with a slatted wood floor would feel to the face. Much easier to clean out than diapers are, just hose it down and done. Worked great with an uncle I once had............palerider wrote:I hope her daughter isn't left changing mommies diapers after mommy has a stroke.Gasper62 wrote: Hope you get whatever it is fixed, and that you don't shorten your life due to untreated OSA.

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
1st there is no proof at all that apnea causes strokes. If I ever have a stroke, then that's fine, it's part of life. IF I have a stroke, any number of my kids or husband could help me, I don't think calling out my daughter is called for. BUT, the whole issue is that fact that EVEN if I bought into all this crap it would never matter. Money doesn't appear out of thin air. It doesn't work like that, but it would be great if it did. I feel used and abused and lied to because I TOLD him before there was no way for me to afford $50 to read some crap online, and that there was NO way I could afford this kind of money, yet, off he sends me to waste $300 for nothing. He KNEW I couldn't afford it, but he did it anyway. I assume as some weird scare tactic to take my money that I don't have. The good news is, you can believe what you want, and I can continue on knowing that I was lied to and lost all my savings. I came here LOOKING for options, which I didn't find. I did hear some ideas on how to not panic at the study, sadly none of them helped, but it was very nice of those to try to help! IF CPAP was great, then 50% of people wouldn't stop it because of how bad it is. EVERYONE is different, it's great that you all love yours, good for you! I can't stand the headache and the horrible feeling of drowning. I was looking for other options. For now I will just do nothing and check back with him in a year or so. Maybe by then he will be willing to give me options, maybe not. If not that's fine, I can wait for years. This has only gotten bad because I have to be at work at 6:30, when I had to be at work later I never had the issues. I'm simply a 2nd or 3rd shifter naturally. When I sleep in the day and am up all night I am never tired. Hence more reasons why the whole thing is so fishy to me. ANYWAY, telling me I'm going to have a stroke isn't a good option since there is no proof of that being a result of apnea, it's just a load of crap they tell us all...listen to the words they say "It MAY cause it" that's not very definitive. Maybe they find out we are all being killed by the horrible, choking air smashing our face every night in a few years, who knows. It MAY cause issues with your throat for the remainder of your life...there is no proof either way of that either.

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
Just curious - can you cite for me the research papers in med journals that say there's no proof apnea causes strokes or that it causes any throat issues?
Because there are LOTS of scientific ones that DO say many strokes are a result of apnea. Same for heart attacks, diabetes, kidney problems, court cases involving dead kids hit by a sleeping driver, lost jobs due to same, etc. etc. Do your kids a favor and get out there and learn something. Yes this is a Cpap forum vs 'other devices' (almost all of which will touch you, if not the same way) and we believe in it - those 50% failures you hear about are the ones who had no help like we do here - so we're not going to tell you that dental devices, mantras or turmeric will help, but we'll be here if and when you want to talk some more - and learn - without saying stuff off the top of your head with no proof, without wasting your energy hating your MD (just change him), etc. We'd like to help, but it would sure be nice if you gave a minute's consideration to anything we said, rather than just hating the whole world. Oh, and we know good places to get inexpensive, even occasionally free machines, etc.

wrong, but it's not like you'll believe anything here, you're obviously not here for help, you're just here to jerk people around.Snoopchic wrote:1st there is no proof at all that apnea causes strokes.

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
I don't hate my doctor. I simply want options. I have no idea where to look for other options, hence why I asked here. And EVEN my doctor said there is zero proof, it's speculation. They can't say if one causes the other or how they are related. A lot of people don't quit because of support so much as the feeling and cost. I took a ton of things people said on here and researched and tried to practice it. The device was sooooooo much worse than I even imagined, it was seriously like drowning, but, I am not here for a miricle, I just wanted support and options. I read report after report that said how many people have anxiety, but I haven't found anything that helps. Again, though, it's a moot point because of the cost. Upfront and on going.

I suggest you go over to apneaboard, they may have other options for you than cpap, which is what we're primarily focused on here. getting the most out of our therapy.Snoopchic wrote: Again, though, it's a moot point because of the cost. Upfront and on going.
since you refuse to even think rationally about cpap, and, as you said, it's a moot point.
THERE IS NOTHING FOR YOU HERE

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.
OK, you said something I can relate to - you said 'drowning'. That feeling usually comes (you're not the first to call it that) when your low pressure is set too low and you can't get enough air. So, what we do is turn up the low pressure by a couple of notches... no big deal! See, it doesn't have to be hard, no rocket science, but we need to hear specifics so we can work on something rather than emotions and anger.

I do believe the forum is being trolled.
