Glad you're still around PR... at least you didn't lose your sense of humor, then I'd really start to worry.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I heard what was growing in my blood.. but don't remember it offhand, I'll have to download the reports and stuff.

Love the humor, PR, and so happy you're back. Note to self: post a "keep yer mitts off my CPAP" if going to the hospital (aka the Big House). I know, I know, it's not a prison, but.....

Happy New Year, and hope every day gets better for you and yours!

My brother in law, who I have been trying to care for, wasn't so lucky. After a week in the hospital being pumped full of antibiotics and who knows what else, even their non invasive ventilator couldn't keep him breathing. Talk about a monster PAP machine. He passed the day after thanksgiving. At least now he is at peace.
So sorry to hear about your brother in law.

Janknitz wrote:Good gravy! Glad you survived not just the illness, but the hospital! What is your blood sugar doing through all this?
interestingly... (confoundedly?) given that I'm one of those people that "I judge every book by it's cover" people look at and say "diabetic, high blood pressure, yup, that's him", the near month that I was in the hospital, my blood pressure (which was actually LOW when I was in the ER and ICU (they were giving me a variety of things to get it up) partially because I didn't have much blood (severe dehydration)... I think I had two saline bags going in at once for a while... anyway, my digressions are growing digressions...

my bp hovered in the 130-140/65-75 range most of the time...

and one of my nurses ran back through my labs,(which they were doing daily) and said my blood sugar was within a point or two of normal the entire time, except one spike.... which *might* have been when they shoved the NG tube up my nose and said "NOTHING BY MOUTH" and started pushing bags of D5W into my arm tubes.

she wasn't a nurse, not even sure if she was a respiratory therapist... could have just been a wannabe... and wasn't cute... and I find stupid to be very unattractive in anybody... besides, I had enough competent, nice folks around.

Stormynights wrote:Wishing you a speedy recovery. You never get any rest in the hospital. For some weird reason they have to draw blood during the night and take your vital signs and they can't do that at the same time. They have to spread it out so you can't get to sleep more than a few minutes at a time.
well, you can't control the roving vampires ("they're on the floor!") the blood draws in the middle of the night are, of course, for doctors convenience so they can get in, get out, and get on the golf course at a good time for them

some of the folks did try to make it better, some of the nurses (there were so many different ones) would try to wait till it was vitals time before they'd come with meds... etc. but, still, hospital exhaustion, it's a thing.

sorry to hear that..

I think I met the same machine... big, noisy, horrible mask...

though, not as big and noisy as the one that the paramedics were using, which was built into the gurney they transported me on... sweet gadget, built in o2, powered lift, spiffy.
