I have dealt with several DMEs just to get my mask of choice on Medicare. I have found that all of them want to send me as much and as often as any insurance company will pay for. I now get an email asking if I want the same as my most recent order or something different. I am sure they would send me anything my insurances will cover. I respond with a call and mostly get filters, perhaps a pillow and occasionally head gear.
Some I dealt with were pushy or lied about what masks etc. were available and I moved on. Obama care has nothing to do with my secondary insurance and not much with my current medicare. I would appreciate a little more "Care" with prescription drug prices however.
I am happy to see children getting healthcare and read that thousands of women's lives have been saved by mammograms and other diagnostic test previously unavailable to them, and men also, sorry guys.
The DMEs irritate me but if you check what they actually are paid by Medicare and insurance companies you will see, as I found anyway, it is a very small percentage of the asking price. As with any business their goal is to make as much money as they can. They have been selling as much as possible at the highest possible price for a long time before Obama care. I don't expect much from them.
Obama care, actually "The Affordable care Act" is just that, an attempt to make affordable health care available to all. It is a work in progress. Give it a chance.
PS. You might remember that some congressmen who voted against Obama Care were the first to put their college age kids back on their government insurance plan when it passed.

That's the longest drumbeating I've ever heard played, straight out of the kool-aid container. I'm not going to try to refute it, lifes too short. The ones of us that know the truth, know it, the rest will never get it.

Affordable? We were told the average family would save 2,000.00 bucks per year; mine has gone up over 4,000.00 since this wonderful act passed. We were told if you like your insurance you can keep your insurance, millions lost their insurance as a direct result of Obama Care; the Dem party line is they didn't lose it, there insurance was cancelled because it was not up to standards, yeah, a standard requiring birth control for a couple in their 50s.

Give it a chance? No thanks, I cannot afford for my healthcare to become any more "affordable."

Apparently you did not watch the debate last night .... TWO of DEMS. want to

IMPROVE IT.

The third wants to replace it with a single payer system ...

I interpret that to mean the people pay MORE.

I know several people who have insurance through TACA. This particular person couldn't afford a sleep study, machine, mask or a doctor. Three months ago she had a sleep study, has a machine and is doing very well with this therapy.

I agree... it needs tweaking... but give it some time.

My cousin was paying for coverage for his wife(breast cancer survivor) used to pay $1,400.00 per month with $5,000 deductible. Now they pay $400 a month with $750 deductible.

Now that is affordable.

I'm sure most of us know people that TACA has helped. I'm happy to say that I know several. Made a huge difference for my cousin's son. He finally was able to get the help he needed.

Must be nice to live in a world where $400 is considered affordable without a second thought! Guess what, to some that's a fortune, and no, GoofP, I'm not talking about people who haven't worked their asses off or who've been on welfare or anything else, just people for whom circumstances beyond their control have left them very, very badly off - lots of such people do exist you know!
