I contacted all of the forum administrators...

Post by tiredgrl » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:52 pm

Because I'm really, really tired of the constant bickering, name calling, vulgarity, etc., on this forum. I learn a lot on this forum but the constant arguing, name calling, etc., really interferes. I have sent a PM to every forum moderator that I could find. I asked why this is being condoned. I asked the moderators to intervene and post a message stating that this behavior must stop, and if it continues the folks who perpetuate the constant fighting have their privileges revoked for a certain amount of time, and that if it continues, to be banned from posting. It's the same people who abuse and bully other people. This has to stop. Enough is enough.

I'm curious, does this apply to you, and how you lashed out recently at everybody that didn't agree with you on that airing thread? no bickering, name calling or vulgarity, I'm just curious.

Yes, I shouldn't have made the comments I did. Someone on another thread commented that people who are nice and typically don't write mean things, have gotten caught up in the snarky behavior. I am guilty of that. It's not my nature or style to behave so rudely.

Hopefully a forum moderator will see the PMs I sent, and intervene on this.

fair enough. I don't care about how you behaved towards me, but your behavior directed at grayghost4... as nice as he is, and as much as he's helped other people on the forum get a machine that they couldn't afford otherwise, thanks to his new hobby of scanning craigslist listings all over the nation...

Who cares? This is an internet forum. I don't let people's rudeness get to me.

Oh. Good. Grief.

I've been a member of this forum for almost 7 and a half years. I've not noticed a decline in cordiality to any great extent. Yes, things do spike up on occasion. But they always calm down after a bit, too.

The Goodman's (owners of cpap.com and our hosts) are nice enough to provide this forum. It works well and has helped thousands. The Goodman's hands-off approach is part of this board's success and in general, the forum is pretty darned good at policing itself.

For those with thin skins, a reminder that the "foes" feature is there for you to use. Whenever you find yourself a victim of someone's sharp elbows, use it. You'll find that it calms the waters, immensely.

It also doesn't hurt to skip over those threads that are full of bickering. Just as you can't read every book in the library you shouldn't expect to read every thread on the board.

That's MY two cents.

BTW, for those who are not familiar with the "foes" feature: click on the poster's name and it will take you to a screen with info about that poster and the option to "add friend" or "add foe".
I'm workin' on it.

You're absolutely correct. I did do this the other day and when I saw a thread that interested me, went in and found that the "bicker'ers" (like that word???) had taken over that thread as well.

The bicker'ers are moving into too many threads, continuing the bickering.

That's why I started a new thread, asking them to stop, which in hindsight, was stupid because they just moved into that thread as well.

::sigh:: As my husband would say "It's an Army of stupids out there!!!"

It is what it is.

And not nearly as entertaining as "The Bickerson's"
(Lame attempt to change topic to reminiscences of old radio shows)
