Bad Breath CPAP

I have been using my CPAP for six months now every night and have family members have been commenting on my bad breath.
I can't seem to work out why all of a sudden I have bad breath, I went to the dentist for a check up he said all looks good, I w went to the doctor to get some pills for some mild heart burn thinking it was that but since taking the meds I haven't had heart burn for months and still bad breath.
Has any one out there had constant bad breath caused by CPAP?
Just trying to cross another possible cause of the list.

Does your pet skunk sleep beside the air intake on your CPAP?

I have not seen this reported here. Do you have dry mouth? Mouth breathing while using your nasal interface could cause some problems.

This did not start right after you chose your user name for the forum did it?

He said his breath stinks, not the air coming out of his CPAP.

Yikes, this thread could get pretty disgusting. Ha. A CPAP is definitely one thing you want to buy new.

All the CPAP does is take the filtered room air and blow it into your nose. If the room air doesn't smell then there is no way the CPAP would have any effect on your breath. More than likely the smell is coming from your sinuses or GERD.

Like ChicagoGranny said bad breath can be caused by dry mouth. The cause could be mouth breathing leaks (check with Sleepyhead) or just the increased amount of air sometimes drys me out. I have Orajel for Dry Mouth before bed and this kept me from having dry mouth for the whole night.

He's already seen the dentist about this. It's in the OP.

To the OP: Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. It sounds to me, too, like it's probably related to GERD. Do you ever experience aerophagia (bloating/air in the belly)?

I read it the first time, and I grasped it fully. Suggesting he see a dentist when he already has is not productive.

The OP said he doesn't experience heartburn anymore, thanks to medication; but perhaps the damage to his esophageal sphincter has already been done and the bad breath is the result.

Bad breath can also be a sign of a sinus infection.

Thanks people for the comments.
I brought my CPAP new but sounds like it might be a doctor problem further than heart burn.
Just a coincidence that it started the same time as my CPAP use.
I did get a report years ago the valve it the top of my stomach was not fully developed as a child and maybe the CPAP was pushing not pleasant stomach air out, but this force would only happen why the CPAP was on I guess.
I'm really just clutching at straws and chewing on mints at the moment.
