oh. my. God.

This freaking sleep doctor is pissing me off! Grrrr. So they faxed me my prescription. And handwritten on it, it says "Dr Moore to choose" for all the equipment. Why do they have to do sh*t like this???

Get a copy of your full sleep study from the doctor. Under HIPPA, you have a right to it.

Then take it to your GP and ask for a prescription based on the study.

Fax them a response that says, "Please resend prescription making the following change... Dr. Terrence Moore to choose patient choice. Please resend when that is complete."

If that doesn't work ask if Dr. Terrence Moore is paying for your supplies or you are... If the good Dr. wants to buy your stuff for you then the choice should be his. Since I doubt that is happening, well... that should be obvious.

I just replied and asked for the changes. If nothing else, it does me no good if I actually AM out of town on a weekend and something breaks and Dr. Freaking Moore is not in his office to "approve" anything with the DME.

If Dr Moore chose the DME, ask for your share of the kickback.
Edit: Find another doc. This one is a control freak who will do you no good.

How many times am I obligated to see the sleep doctor after the study? They have this whole schedule with me coming back in 30 days and then 90 days, etc. But I've had the study and I have my machine. Do I really need to keep messing with them once I get my RX?

I have not been back to my sleep doctor since the study. Well the follow-up to the study.

I went to the sleep doc.

Scheduled study-- was a split night study -- AHI was 80+ and on to CPAP by midnight...

Had a follow-up visit to go over the study. Prescription sent to DME.

Met with DME got machine, did a follow-up with the DME after two weeks of data.

Haven't been to the sleep doc since. DME gave me a copy of the prescription written as patient choice and for life.

Whatever insurance requires to continue paying for your machine/supplies.
Medicare requires the most; others: call your insurance.

WTF? Ask your *insurance company* what kind of verification of compliance they need to keep paying for your machine.

WTF, I say again.

Maybe they are hesitant to give you want you until they can verify the cpap treatment is working out for you?

I would white out what the dr wrote in about 'what he wants' & present the rx to the DME that way.

LOL.

Somewhat illegal in a big way, though.
