I know it's not Friday yet but.....

Post by yawn » Thu Sep 29, 2005 4:11 pm

Hey everybody!
Sorry for posting a day early but I'm not sure I'll be around tomorrow and I didn't want to disappoint anybody. So how's everybody doing??? I hope you had a successful week. I actually just came from my Dr.'s office and found out that I've lost another 6 lbs. in the past 3 weeks. So I'm down a total of 15 lb. (yippee!!). "They" say that losing 2lbs. a week is the best way to lose weight and keep it off....I sure hope "they're" right. I'll be checking in to see how everybody's doing so please post about your week.

If anybody isn't familiar with this yet, there's a bunch of us that are trying to lose weight and we check in with each other every friday to see how we're all doing. If you would like to join us, we would LOVE to have you. Anybody and everybody is welcome to post every week, or just when you feel like it.

So, let's hear from ya'......Amy

This weight loss group sounds like something that I would like to join. Seems like a great support group here already, so an having an additional goal would strenghthen my committment! How do you join?

You just did!!! We aren't an official group or anything. I just try to post a message on Fridays asking how everybody's doing. Anybody that wants to respond is very welcome to. I'm really glad you're interested in this. Losing weight can help with our OSA and make us healthier. So, I'm glad you asked about this and welcome to the group. Oh yeah, one thing....try to eat healthier, drink lots of water and start exercising. (Still want to join????)

Glad to have you aboard....Amy

You know what? I don't want to know what I weigh right now. I was very depressed this week from getting on the scale and GOING UP (damn new scale...)!!! I don't know why all of a sudden this is happening. My blood pressure has gone up, too, and they are hooking me up to a 24-hour BP monitor on Sunday morning to see what is going on with it. I went to the doctor tonight for a bad elbow that I was concerned might be the start of carpal tunnel, which is how my husband's started. And being I've been using my steno keyboard for over 25 years, and the computer keyboard, I was concerned. She seems to think it's tendonitis. We'll see.

But the good news is, I have started walking in the mornings 2 1/2 miles. I decided perhaps my body was getting used to the bike riding I did in my house three times a week; and since the weather is so gorgeous lately and my jobs are mostly afternoons, I decided to get out the old walkman, dig out my favorite CDs, put on my Reeboks and out I go. I am loving every minute of it. I've discovered that a lot of the roads in my town are not really flat. You find these things out once you start walking them instead of driving on them. Amazing.

So I won't weigh for another week to not disappoint myself if my weight hasn't come down yet. I am still being good, drinking my water and definitely exercising, so if it doesn't work, there will be nothing left to do to lose weight but to cut off a limb or my head.

That's it for me. I wish everyone great results this week. Hope you all are doing better than me. That's what I get for preaching to the choir!!! And I thought I had this whole thing under control...Amy, you just passed me with 15 lbs. when I've been doing this now since the beginning of July. Congratulations x 100!!! Keep up the incredible job you're doing.

Amy....great news...15 lbs all together now...keep up the good work. Good luck tomorrow friend...

Mary...4 lbs lost with five extra guests...that's great.

Sleepless...I had the 24 hour BP monitor done...you will be glad when the time is done....it drove me crazy...but not the end of the world either. You walk 2 1/2 miles...wow...I only walk 1 1/4 miles and that almost kills me.
so if it doesn't work, there will be nothing left to do to lose weight but to cut off a limb or my head.
...haha...Don't do that now...we need your head so you can continue writing great posts.

Good luck in your first week heretolearn

This thread is getting depressing. Hmmm. No progress here whatsoever.

Lori......you are having a hard time losing the remaining weight because you are close to your goal...the closer you get the harder it is to lose...have faith and keep trying...you will get there someday.

Jan......there's always next week.

Just be glad you're not like me and gaining...especially when you're doing nothing to deserve it!!!

PS: Linda, you are a honey, but I'm gaining some back...that's what really is so upsetting.

Good Morning!
I just wanted to add a post so this thread would be moved up a little. UncleBob....I read your post on last week's thread and am thrilled that you're going to join in on our weight loss adventure. Sounds like some of you had a tough week. Please don't be so discouraged that you just give up. Remember how difficult OSA and CPAP were in the beginning??? Did you ever think you would be able to deal with the machine, the mask, the tubing, the water...all of it. Remember those nights when you would rip the mask off in utter frustration...feeling like you couldn't breathe?? And then you found CPAP.com and life got a little easier. You found the mask(s) that worked for you, you learned little tricks to make this all easier...and you also learned that you would have good days and you would have bad days. In the end, you have stuck with this because you know you have to or your health will suffer....a lot! Losing weight is the same process. It's hard and it's frustrating but if we stick together and lean on each other when we need support, WE WILL SUCCEED!!! There will be bad 'days' and good 'days' but if you don't stick to this, you will only have bad days and your health will suffer....a lot!! To all of you who are discouraged or afraid to get started on this, please try to hang in there. We'll all get through this together. We're not here to judge each other...just encourage each other.

I hope you all have a fabulous day!!!
Amy
