Ode to a heated hose

Post by xiola » Thu Nov 12, 2009 7:57 pm

ok.. not really, but

I got my heated hose in the mail yesterday, and i had absolutely no rainout problems last night at ALL. Didn't wake up once having to empty water out of the hose (or worse just take the mask off)

love it.

Hi Xiola,
I agree with you a heated hose is the best way to go. The first time I got rainout it was a shock,I couldn't imagine what was happening. I now have a F&P cpap unit, it came with a heated hose. And like you, I love it.

Isn't it great, xiola? Glad yours arrived.

I love the Aussie heated hose. I especially love that the "Sleepzone heated cpap tube" is a separate air hose (used as the main air hose) that can be attached to any brand/type of machine. That means I'm not tied down to using just one brand of machine in order to use a "heated hose."

Ooh, now I really can't wait for my heated hose to arrive!! Ordered it two days ago, keep checking the front door to see if it's here yet. Getting the rainout solved will be heaven.

Shoot, I was expecting poetry. Will this work...?

Ode to the Heated Hose

I don't like water up my nose
Especially late at night
One minute sleeping peacefully
Next waking with a fright

Snorting and grabbing off my mask
Why won't it stay dry
In spite of all your good advice
And everything I try

I've lowered my box to the floor
Hung the hose over my bed
Covered it with old tube socks
It just got worse instead

Don't want my room to be so hot
Or water to be so cold
There's got to be a better way
If I may be so bold

And so the last trick on my list
Is the famed heated hose
My desperate last ditch effort
And so the story goes

So let my water be luke warm
And my room be cold as ice
My heated hose has cured rainout
And I'm sleeping really nice

By Kathy, who has never used a heated hose.

RG, I may not have used one, but I pay attention. By the way, I''ve had rainout maybe 3 times in over 3 years - just enough to know the experience.

Any excuse for a poem is good enough for me!

Xiola,
You started an interesting thread. I LOL when I read Kathy's poem, it fit my feelings when I experienced the dread rainout. Kathy, you have so many talents, since reading your poem I have been thinking, without success, for another topic for a poem from you.

Kathy, I copied the poem, it was too good to just read it once, It memorized the feelings I had when rainout hit me. And, I reflected how wonderful it is not to have rainout.

I used to have a heated hose on F&P SleepStyle 608. It was part of the best heated humidification i have ever experienced.

Before i go hooking up any mom & pop made electrical equipment i would like to know if they are certified in any way?

Is the Aussie hose certified medical equipment?

I've emailed them twice to ask this question and have not heard back, i wonder why ?

If you're asking about U.S. FDA approval, I don't think the inventor has ever applied for FDA certification. Nor have they applied for UL certification in the U.S. that I know of.

In this thread: viewtopic.php?t=14472
TheWife wrote: I got a reply from them (that was fast) saying they are NOT approved for use in Canada or the US as the cost of getting certified is too much. But they are certified on the Australia Register of Therapeutic Goods and that each heated tube is labelled with a tag that shows the required listing number which is ARTG #L82265 3rd April 2002 the product is "category safe". HTH.

I'm a bit confused. What is the difference between the "Aussie Heated Hose" & the "Sleepzone heated cpap tube"?

The Aussie heated hose is the "Sleepzone heated cpap tube". Sleepzone is in australia and makes the heated cpap tube. At some point it got translated to Aussie heated hose.
