MyAir.com -- PissedMeOff.com more like it...

Post by cathyf » Sat Nov 01, 2014 4:30 pm

The A10 came with a card advertising their website where you can register your machine's serial number, and then when your machine phones home in the morning and tells them your numbers they calculate a score and send you an email. My email:
Hello Cathy

You've just completed your first night on therapy.

Congratulations! You've earned yourself a badge!

Login to share your accomplishment with friends on Facebook and Twitter.

Sleep well!

The myAir team

myAir.ResMed.com
I went to the site and logged in, and here's my "badge"

Notice the creepy button so that you can post this condescending crap on your Facebook page or twitter feed. ARE THESE PEOPLE TOTALLY NUCKING FUTZ?!?!!

You may wonder why I got dinged the four points. It's because I took the mask off when I woke up, and then put it back on when I went back to sleep. Imagine that -- limiting use of a sleep apnea treatment to the times that I'm asleep!
Image

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, I mean what else can you expect from the sort of a**holes who would use the word "compliant" to describe something that you do while you are unconscious?

probably trying to appeal to a younger demographic.

what's really bad is that the hours of usage counts 12x as much (70%) as the effectiveness (5%).

Indeed!

One thing that does worry me some is wondering to what extent the design of the machines is affected by their obvious contempt for the patients. But then that's always a question in every kind of medical care...

It's always been a mystery to me that the manufacturers don't even factor in the end users. Oh, yeah, they've got stuff on their websites, but in reality, the "consumer" is the DME (those who sell the equipment).......it stops with them. Most of the users trying to contact the manufacturers with issues get told "don't bother us with your problems.....go see your DME" (Like W.C. Fields......"Go away, ya bother me, kid").

Talk about an upside-down industry!!!

Just to share a different point of view:

I thought that what you described and displayed above was very clever and if I had that when I started therapy it would have added to my motivation.

Although we seem like a large group here, I believe that only a small percentage of first-time users learn of this site at the beginning of their therapy, and they need all the motivational encouragement they can get, even if it seems gimmicky to more experienced users.

Regards, Nate

Listen, I know people make knee-jerk posts on here that are not really a reflection of their IQs or knowledge. But that is a ridiculous statement. If you look at all the improvements in CPAP machines in the last 15 years do you really think they were for the DMEs and not the users?

Now, tell me what industries deal directly with the consumers? Ever try calling Ford Motor Co. because you don't like the design of the instrument panel? Ever call Samsung because a pixel is burnt out? Ever call Cal-Maine because you think they should use a different egg-grading scale?

Agreed. The original post is uncalled for and nonproductive drama.

The feedback kind of reminds me of the Zeo coaching.
We see the social media links everywhere, and I suppose it works for kids,
But it's not my cup of tea.

I'm trying to reverse engineer the calculation if you die in the middle of the night.

-- You should get all 70 points for usage, since it's probably going to be hours before they find your body.

-- Mask seal should be great as soon as you become inanimate, so all 20 of those points.

-- Your AHI might lose you up to 5 points, depending upon how many events you had before you were dead...

-- If you're dead, you're not going to be taking the mask off...

So minimum is 90, more likely closer to 100...

It's been discussed here many, many times before. I'm making no apologies. The XPAP manufacturers DON'T consider the end users the "purchasers".......their interests stop with the DMEs.
And, I HAVE talked to and/or had email exchanges with Respironics AND ResMed.
I have no problems with my Ford products that can't be resolved by the local dealerships......and don't own any Samsung or Cal-Maine products.
So, don't try to tell me things about which you have no idea!

PS. And, I KNOW that the manufacturers read this forum.

?
absolutely.

if the "other guy" is making improvements to their product, the the cpap mfgrs customers (the DMEs) are going to buy more of the "other guy's" product....

if they were making them for us, then the damnable "compliance" wouldn't be front and center and most important.
