The DME doesn't determine the pressure settings. They set the pressure(s) according to the prescripton from the doctor. Have you had a second sleep study with a machine? If not, your machine will likely be an APAP (auto-adjusting cpap) set to a range of pressures.

I wake up and feel fine. I'm not sleepy durning the day I don't wake up with headaches . It seems silly that the doctor I watched sleeping at his qualified to even judge me on my sleep habits. I felt like I just paid $250 for nothing.and then to allow sone DME as I heard someone refer to them as is qualified to determine what pressure I need to be set at. Sounds like I have a better shot at letting person form the local radio shack do it for me.
You just THOUGHT you did. Sleep Apnea is "lack of breath" and lack of oxygen that goes along with it. They're discovering that many medical conditions are the result of Sleep Apnea......like Diabetes, heart disease and many others.

Suck it up and get off your pity pot.

well, you can do that, though your wife is trying to keep you alive... or maybe she just wants to avoid having to change your diapers after you have a stroke and are nothing but a drooling moron and huge liability for her.

either way, your whiny little temper tantrum isn't helping anyone, least of all you.

you haven't been SLEEPING, you've been PASSED OUT from exhaustion. there is a difference.
Might as we'll be diapers it is just as degrading looking like a mutant with a hose running out my nose

I thought I slept fine too. Turns out, I was having 79+ breathing events per HOUR. I got a cpap machine, and I am usually below 1 an hour. I feel MUCH better, and things that I did not know were related, have improved, including my attitude.

It's hard to know how and your sleep is when it gets worse over years of time, and you don't realize just how bad it is. Once I had a single 5 hours straight of good sleep, I understood just how bad my normal sleep was.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I have not had. Second study. My insurance is so crappy they said the DME would be contacting me and bring out a device to see what setting works best

We can help -- There is free software available, you can use it to see what's actually going on when you use the machine.

If you read the advice at the top of the forum and pay attention you can get a machine and software to monitor and adjust your own therapy. Once you are over your DeNile the folks here will help you to understand and deal with the obstacles.
You won't even need the guy from Radio Shack. Which is a good thing since he won't be there much longer.
A year from now you will be glad you pursued the therapy and so will your wife.

We get lots of people on the forum who have lousy insurance coverage or NO insurance coverage and actually WANT to use this therapy without doctors and DMEs getting in the way.........and THEY get helped, too.

well, if you've slept so fine, why is it your wife is worried about you enough to want you to get better?

does she hate you?

Oh my gosh. You are actually relying on a wife that loves you. Incredible.

She not only loves you but loves you so much that she anticipated something wrong with your health, made arrangements to find the appropriate treatment, and she gets such wonderful treatment from you. Again, impressive.

If you believe the sleep study techs have the same training for sleep studies as RadioShack employees, you, sir, are a nutcase. I can't imagine how much fun having you at the sleep study was for these folks. Probably, one of their favorite nights.

On a positive note: you have found the very best Sleep Apnea Forum on the Internet. If you would care to look for assistance, please reach out. As you are in the DME introduction phase, may I suggest that you read some of the tutorials on the top of this webpage. I sure wish I had before interacting with the DME. It would have saved me money, time, and frustration down the line.

There is a wealth of information available if you open yourself up to it.

Regards to you and your wife,
TheWino

Crossed my mind, too.........but, we need to let it play out and give the situation the benefit of the doubt for now.
