What;s the worst tip you ever had from CPAPTalk?

Post by peterg » Wed Oct 26, 2011 4:43 pm

following on from the best tip thread (great thread btw), this one is a little harder (and please dont submit any tongue in cheek jokey tips like "put a snake in your humidifier to catch the frogs", though that could be a good tip in some circumstances.
I cant add any serious ones cause all the tips in the few months Ive been here have been good. there must be some though.

To me, this is a ridiculous post. What was a bad post (tip) to one person may have been wonderful for another. If it was a serious tip...it can't be bad.

I can't really think of a "worst" tip. Some haven't worked for me, but that doesn't necessarily mean they won't work for someone else. I take what I like and works for me, and leave the rest.

Great links, Mars.

Not only were the links cool, but just to the right of each link was another link, equally disturbing:

Easy! That you should not use your machine during nighttime thunderstorms because lightning could travel thru the machine, up your hose and kill you.

do any of the heated hoses have a coil of wire along their length that could make that tip not so silly?
lightning can jump across the room, across cordless phones.
more reason to get a battery backup. around here the more vilent storms regularly knock the power out anyway.

I'd bet its never happened though on a straight out machine and tube. the worst would probably be the machine gets fried, leaving you Papless (sic), and if you can sleep through all that maybe a little bit of a shock would wake you up and do you some good.

The S9 power brick is fully isolated. There is no conductive path between the power mains and the cord to the blower. I'd bet other manufacturers isolate theirs as well.

Well, lightning, by definition, can pass thru air. The likelihood of getting struck while sleeping is minute whether using CPAP or not.

Someone saying to tape your mouth shut.

Seriously, that can't be a good idea.
