DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I like the IntelliPap quite a bit, though am now finding myself using the S9 more and more. The primary reason for this is the IP is louder.
Here is my list of suggestions - based on what the IP already does well.
Basic Functions:
* Lowest decibel level possible - the quieter, the better.
Software:
* WAVEFORM data.
Advanced Features:
* Oximeter option other than to expensive Nonin.
* Consider offering a programmable (or better - user-selectable) algorithm. Whereas I get the best treatment from the current IP algorithm that prioritizes maintaining minimum possible pressures and gradual pressure increases/decreases - some users benefit from more aggressive responses to events.
Some of the things that already set the IP apart are:
* The travel case and configuration are the best of breed.
* The software is the most logical and easy to use of those I have used (DeVilbiss, Respironics and Resmed).
* For me, the current algorithm is the best - though I know others have complained they need a more aggressive response.
I hope this helps.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I just read both the users manual and the providers manual for the System One. The provider manual specifically says that events will be treated during the ramp time. Neither say anything about whether or not event data is collected. But I would guess if they are treated, they are also reported.Slinky wrote:jbn3boys, read thru your Users Manual. I "think" that no data is collected, and also no responses to "events", during the Ramp period and I think the Ramp on the Respironics devices can be set for a maximum of 45 minutes.

Ahhh, the nice thing about the Resmeds - you can SEE the exact times in the graphs. You know by the time and graphs.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
In looking at my data from the period where I was making ample use of the ramp--going from 7/5 to 8/6 because 8/6 was causing aerophagia problems when I would wake up in the middle of the night, I can say I saw my BiPAP (running in straight BiPAP mode) recorded a few events during the ramp period. Since my BiPAP is running in straight BiPAP mode instead of Auto, it didn't respond to the events, just recorded them.jbn3boys wrote:I just read both the users manual and the providers manual for the System One. I don't think I ever saw the S9 record anything in the ramp period, though, back when I was using it, also making use of the ramp to help with the aerophagia while awake and working on getting back to sleep.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I am a newbie and still trying to get used to it.
1. Hose out the FRONT or SIDE of the unit, NOT out the back!
2. Hose management system needs to come WITH the machine!
3. O2 sensor should come WITH the machine and data entered into the captured data automatically.
4. A clock on the front side would be nice, that can be seen from the bed, where the patient's head is lying most of the night.
5. Display that is easier to bring up than the S9. Pushing two buttons at same time is difficult for people half-asleep!
Thanks.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Here is something that I think would be useful.
In the menu have a section called graphs. In that section simply offer trending graphs of a few of the important criteria. This is no substitute for data downloading, but it would be interesting to catch a "glimpse" of a trend of AHI, leaks, etc by simply scrolling through a few low resolution graphs. You may also offer the option of user selected time frames.
I would probably set up AHI, OA, and leak rate trending over a 7 day period of time.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Since your equipment profile says you're using a Philips Respironics System One BiPAP Auto, I thought you were talking about seeing the statement in the Provider manual for your machine...the BiPAP Auto. I was curious to know if the Provider manual for the PR System One Auto...their autotitrating CPAP machine... "also" said events are treated during ramp.jbn3boys wrote:That's what I said.rested gal wrote:The Provider manual for the PR System One Auto also says events will be treated during ramp time.jbn3boys wrote:I just read both the users manual and the providers manual for the System One. A CPAP that can autotitrate is a very different machine from a bilevel machine that can autotitrate. They each have their own manuals. Thus, the "also" in my comment.
If it was the manual for the autopap, rather than one for your BiPAP Auto, that you were looking in.... yes, you said it first.
Good find, jbn3boys.
If you happen to have a PDF of the Provider manual for the Philips Respironics System One BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex, please PM me. I'd love to have that one...also.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
Just got my intellipap today Bought it for a backup but I plan to use it for awhile to get use to it. Didn't want to wait for DeVilibiss to come out with their new model. Took some to set up because for some reason our host didn't add the clinicians manual with it, but thanks to Emilia's post awhile back I got it set up. Will see how it goes tonight.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
I haven't read through the entire thread, but I believe I did notice someone mentioned being able to set the internal time clock......that's one of the two features that Respironics failed to put in their almost-perfect Legacy models. The other is being able to change the battery that keeps the internal-clock time. An external battery compartment would be my suggestion for a design feature in addition to a clock-setting feature.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
So, 1st night with IP. Bought this for a backup to my PR1 but after last night I think the PR1 will be the backup.
After hearing all the hype to the IP here I had to get it but I was really expecting to be let down. Then when
it didn't come with the clinicians manual and was somewhat frustrating to set up I was starting to get worried.
I still haven't figured how to set it's internal clock but looking at the download today it looks like it's only 1 hour off.
But I really like the display and the smartflex is wonderful. Even though I had some mask leaks last night I had a wonderful
nights sleep. The PR1 Aflex drops off right at the end of your breath (even at 1) which is annoying and keeps me awake.
This smartflex pressure change was very smooth and it's SO MUCH QUIETER!!! I could hardly hear it even through my mask.
The PR1 sounds like a vacuum cleaner in comparison.
Oh, and since I got that little add-on for smartlink. it says that I can get all this data on the display but all I seem to be able to get is AHI,
Days above 4 hrs (don't care) and high leak. Does anyone know how to get it to show me everything it says it will in the manual?
The only complaint I have it that I didn't get instructions on how to set it and it would be nice if the software was designed
for the patient not the DME. Other than that I love it.

Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
No way to set the internal clock. It is a 12 hr cycle. Best bet is to unplug it right before bed. So if say your power goes out in the middle of the day, then your machine will reset 12 hrs from then. Which could be 2 in the morning! I have had mine say I slept for 20 minutes after sleeping all night. It reset 20 mins before I woke up.sleepyb wrote: I still haven't figured how to set it's internal clock but looking at the download today it looks like it's only 1 hour off.
Re: DeVilbiss Wants Your Input
FORGET ABOUT MASK SELECTION FOR LEAK RATE REPORTING!!!!
Frankly, I'm beginning to think that Respironics had the better idea w/their Legacy and M Series - let the PAP just report the Leak rate and let the USER deduct that mask's "allowed vent rate" from the reported Leak rate to determine if they need to improve their leaks or not.
At first I liked Resmed's method of subtracting the "allowed vent rate" from the reported Leak rate w/their Mask Selection feature. Now I find I really dislike it since I've seldom used a Resmed mask. And if you use the WRONG mask selection your data can get really skewed and unreliable. Its a feature I think the manufacturers would do well to eliminate - ESPECIALLY since they are unwilling to provide information when you use other than their brand masks.
I have experimented w/the various Mask Selections for the same mask - and WOW! - talk about UNRELIABLE data!!!
