Jeff, thank you for the return of your avatar. Made me smile. Ok, I admit that a couple years ago I wanted to start over with a new identity. I wanted to come back as the poster whose answers were always brief, concise, articulate, knowledgeable, (maybe even a bit profound), and one who didn't think every other person has limb movement issues. Then i realized that would be way too much work.

Your description of what it's like to be unencumbered by reputation or expectation almost made me again want to give it a try.

Y'know, I think I need to morph again, too. This running around with no legs (????) is getting tiresome. I gotta find me a new "cutting edge" screen name and avatar.

Maybe you don't have periodic limb movements at all:

And in reading your question, kathy, I am either not understanding it or not allowing myself to understand it.

IIWY, I would go back and get my sleep study to find out exactly what was happening EEG-wise with your movements. For instance, if the frequency of your movements are every couple of seconds or so, then they can't be PLMs because they're too fast. If they occur at sleep onset, you could be looking at hypnagogic foot tremor. If you're looking at REM, it could be REM behavior disorder.

Maybe I'll go home and get a shower.

"Baked goods" in the shower.

Wonder how that's gonna work out.

Sorry for the late response. Work called me away unexpectedly and I could not keep up on this message board. I had no idea it would continue this way. Trying to catch up with it was challenge. This thread had me wetting from both ends.

If I offended somebody I do wish that somebody would speak up and point me to the offending post. Since I really don't attack but poke fun at the behavior or in this case the thought. The thought that somebody would use an alter to bring up a recent post to beat the horse all over again is laughable. To see how many of us fell right in is even more laughable. To see the twist and turns brought out by this is laughable still again.

It is truly ashame that some can only see humor in what they post and feel that no one else is allowed any humor is very sad to say the least. Brain cloud illustrated how easy it is to turn a light hearted post into a poor me hurt my feelings crying tears feeling. So sad so many feel that way.

If you define a narcissist as one who puts his needs before those of his group then this thread was started by one. Assuming this poster read the link he included but felt he had a new and better angle. Prolly even posted this thought before a time or two.

It seems some here think they know who I am. I can only confirm one who really knows. Really.

For me its back TOB which not only has fewer moderators but you also know who they really are. Or is that who they are. Really

btw to get back on topic I think you need categories lots of them.

OK, good enough for me.

"IMHO", any more ill will posts and out comes the Dillon.

It's a gorgeous day, thank God you're (generic) not dead so you can get out there and enjoy it.

Everybody get off the board, get your DAs outside and do something.

Dori, I was beaming for several reasons when I read what you wrote... what you said and the way you said it was so upbeat and clever.

But most of all, I was happily smiling when this occurred to me: "Right there, as a shining example to everyone, is a wonderful, intelligent woman (you, Dori! ) who cared so much about the wellbeing of her husband...she set out to find a sleep apnea forum in order to help him."

Luckily (for you and for all of us) you found your way to this one! At first, so much of what you saw here had to be like trying to read Greek. You kept at it, learning more and more, both for the sake of your husband, and... (I suspect)...because you're a person who loves to learn.

Not only did you stick with it to gain knowledge in order to help your husband, you've stayed here to keep helping others -- encouraging and supporting so many in your trademark kind way.

You're a jewel, Dori.

SWS - Thanks for those links. Interesting stuff about the scope of limb movements of sleep being far wider than just RLS/PLMD. Before I was on Mirapex (untreated and on Sinemet) my movements were minutes rather than seconds apart, and were more contractions instead of flailing. On Mirapex, they broke all the rules, which I (and my sleep doc) attributed to medication effect. Even now, on Ropinerole (Requip) they are not nearly so close together, though they have a bit of resemblance to the exaggerated movements. Having had numerous PSGs and MSLTs at three different clinics in over 10 years, I'm wondering which would be most helpful to review. Don't want to hijack this thread that had turned so nicely, so I'll just say, call yourself whatever you like, I'm just appreciative of the expertise you bring. But hey, if I dream about that new muffin, I may just develop REM behavior disorder!

Mars, we all need to do that. Living the "examined life" is not a new idea. But it's an important one to comprehend.

Henry David Thoreau noted:
The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation.
Of course, the "men" in that quote referred to "mankind", and not just the males in the population. Today, he would no doubt change that to "people".

And this is not a modern thought. You see, even Socrates noted:
The unexamined life is not worth living.
If we live a life of quiet desperation - or live without thinking about how and why we do things, then we stand no chance to make that positive mark upon the world. We won't really enjoy life - with all it's ups and downs - with all it's rewards and challenges. We will cruise through life and wonder if we really made a difference.

Or we can examine how we act and react to the world. We can decide to make a difference. We can decide to change the world.

So, you are not alone. We all face the same need. We can not control the world around us. Be we can decide to be a positive force. We can decide to act and react so the world is just a little bit better. And to that end, I wish you continued luck on that journey!

I'm sure you have MANY questions as a newcomer here---about apnea and its treatment. I would encourage you to participate in the other threads and ask the helpful posters there how to fine tune your therapy!

I would encourage that you and the other newcomers not bother with this thread. Lately we have been focusing on regular members who take out additional user accounts to take snide swipes at other members. I mistakenly thought that was cowardly at first. However, reading through the recent posts in this thread I have learned:

1) It’s not really cowardly to reserve a second identity for harsh/antagonistic posts
2) There’s really no difference between taking considerable measures to fool people with a second identity since the primary identity is just as anonymous, and
3) To even DISCUSS the increasing popularity of posters shielding their primary identities behind harsh second identities is what's REALLY cowardly and judgmental

What an epiphany!
And while we are on the subject of not being cowardly, who here will admit to having a man-crush on -SWS? Show of hands.

If -SWS were to ask me to marry him, I would have to think long and hard about whether my purported heterosexuality is really something to make a big to-do over.
Not a chance, brain_cloud. He's mine I tell you, all mine.

Shall it be pistols, rapiers, or just plain fisticuffs?
Ah, a bromance à trois.
