This has been a most entertaining thread, while at the same time thought-provoking and, dare I say it, team-building. I've enjoyed several of the fawning posts, though I must admit there were a few that have made me gag because the fawning was so inappropriately directed.

Case in point. I'll bet you're a candidate for Mr. Congenialty at work.

Based on your previous replies, I'll venture the hypothesis that you bristle at even _the thought_ of any kind of any control.
I'll also venture the simple hypothesis that what I said is true because -- simply -- that's the way that the majority of the forums on the internet are set up.
Here are the results of a quick review of _forums_ on a variety of websites.

Hope I don't get mixed in with the dessert cart.

Hi LoQ, I briefly scanned all 29 pages of posts and I'm trying to figure out which ones you thought were fawning? I know it's just words on a page but I felt everything said here was heartfelt. Did I miss anything?

He was probably talking about me fawning over brain_cloud. I think I also fawned a little over my UggyPooh. I am a fawning kind of person, I guess.

Fawning is in the eye of the beholder. Apparently.

I am not going to confirm or deny anyone's guesses. Let each person think for himself.

I am sure that someone secretly fawns over you, too.
All of my fawning is totally logical, though. Cloudy and Uggy are both totally fawn worthy.

RG, Thank you, I'm just one of many, many little birdies you helped fly out of the nest. When I reread the above I realized that it's not that I "love" to learn so much(certainly this wasn't my wish), it's more that it's not enough to know "how" to do something(like change settings), I have to fully understand "why" I'm doing it until it makes sense to me. I remember you posting that it was OK to go with auto, min close to titration and leave the max at 20cms and Den saying that straight cpap might be better, Huh?? You both gave excellent explanations for your opinions and answered all my questions(many, many times) but it drove me crazy until I finally understood the "why" of both sides and could start my own experimenting. BTW, you're both right , so I hope it's not as confusing to the newbies as it was for me!

Say, maybe you should join the USO. Then you could entertain the troops, too, as well as the masses.

For instance, if the frequency of your movements are every couple of seconds or so, then they can't be PLMs because they're too fast. If they occur at sleep onset, you could be looking at hypnagogic foot tremor. If you're looking at REM, it could be REM behavior disorder.

SWS - Thanks for those links. Interesting stuff about the scope of limb movements of sleep being far wider than just RLS/PLMD. Before I was on Mirapex (untreated and on Sinemet) my movements were minutes rather than seconds apart, and were more contractions instead of flailing. On Mirapex, they broke all the rules, which I (and my sleep doc) attributed to medication effect. Even now, on Ropinerole (Requip) they are not nearly so close together, though they have a bit of resemblance to the exaggerated movements. Having had numerous PSGs and MSLTs at three different clinics in over 10 years, I'm wondering which would be most helpful to review. Don't want to hijack this thread that had turned so nicely, so I'll just say, call yourself whatever you like, I'm just appreciative of the expertise you bring. But hey, if I dream about that new muffin, I may just develop REM behavior disorder! [/quote]
Of all the times for me to make an error of calling someone the wrong name! I meant to address NotMuffy, not SWS. So don't anybody get to thinking THEY are one and the same. Sorry Cupcake.

I too wanted to respond some way to your posts, jnk, but plr66 said it better than I could have. I wholeheartedly agree with all 3 statements below. For what it's worth I didn't feel at all betrayed by this switch, though I was confused and had no idea who who was, though I was sure it was a board member.
plr66 wrote:jnk wrote:Perhaps the question plr66 would like to ask is, "Jnk, why 'who'?" The following is my self-serving answer:
A while back, a poster I respect overmuch implied a few of my radical opinions were neither logical nor helpful and could hurt the boards "reputation."
When I thought about the statements made in that thread, I decided it was mostly the number that followed the word "Posts" below "jnk" that was causing the "board reputation" problem........ I felt the desire to post some helpful words without risking getting attacked, according to my perspective at the time.
I knew that some posters here also post at other forums with other names, and I knew that a very few who post here (OK, one) use parody personas to keep their post numbers low. So I figured: "Hey, why not just sign up with another name?"
So I'm a little slower to catch on, but never in a million years would I have guessed that "who" was you, much less your reasons for deciding to use another identity.
jnk wrote: Turns out, though, that much of the board didn't read that foolishness, so when I did the twilight-zone reveal thing in this thread in an attempt to get "Really" and others to do the same, it was understandably disconcerting to a number of people. I didn't expect that. Yeah, I AM actually that dumb!...
Jeff, from here out in your post, I can only say that your self-trouncing is way too extreme, and certainly not needed after reading your forthright statement of your line of reasoning. Your owning it and just deciding to be who you are in one identity is a terrific conclusion for me. Despite the fact that you do not need to please me or anyone else, quite frankly.
jnk wrote:In conclusion (FINALLY, right?), I apologize sincerely to anyone hurt by my posting under two different identities at the same time without making it clear what I was doing and why. That was cruel to those who have come to care for "jnk" for whatever reason and didn't follow the dodge or the joke. THAT mistake won't happen again. But I warn you that if I was stupid enough to do what I did, I'm stupid enough to make similar mistakes in the future, even if not that one. You have been forewarned. Any post here in the future will be as jnk. But I may be doing more posting at apneasupport and Sleepguide for a while. One is highly moderated and the other is medium-low moderated, which may be better for me, personally, for now, than “lightly moderated.” Feel free to pass my statement on to those who have me on their ignore list. And for any who desire more information for any reason, feel free to PM me.
Oh, and one more thing:
Jeff/jnk/who
Jeff, I for one would not in any way exaggerate your choosing to use another identity as "cruel!" Had not even occurred to me. And while you may for personal reasons prefer the other lists, I would hope you will remain here as you always have. You're a special presence. Thanks for your thoughtful response.
p.s. Cupcake you're very palatable and sweet, a nicer alternative than your cousins there, although they are extremely helpful as well. Time to come out of Time Out, IMO. What can I say? I am "overly sensitive" and like my threads conflict free.
