I probably won't get the flu/flue/flew shot because I am old enough to have some immunity plus I didn't get it this summer when my daughter and her boyfriend were hacking all over the apartment, and I held the hair back while they puked so I think I am safe.

A "flue" is the vertical open space inside a chimney through which hot gases rise.

And "flew" is the past tense of the verb "to fly."

English is a strange, strange language.
A fun language too.

Another meaning for "flew" -- the side upper lip in dogs. In some breeds the flews are very pendulous. Conducive to slinging slobber hither and yon.

No, because the vaccines usually trigger a major respiratory infections.

Yes, conditionally -- it requires diagnosis and management, but does not interfere with life in general.

I get a flu shot every year. Knock on wood - have not had the flu in 15 years. Okay - so the week before labor day, my son gets sick. H1N1 - yep he caught it. I caught it on Tuesday and was out of work an entire week. Well, it was the flu - stayed in bed, drank lots of fluids, took my advil and am fine.

I already got this year's flu shot, but, from what I've been told by my doc - will not need the H1N1 shot - since I've already had it.

I work in a middle school in Georgia (where H1N1 is widespread) and so far, it's on a down swing in our school - really no more kids out than usual.

To be honest - the flu I had 15 years ago seemed much worse.

Maybe the flu is worse than I thought.
My daughter, whose lives in Riverdale, just below Atlanta, has just gotten it and now has to stay home from her job as music teacher for a few days. (She roves from school to school)

Her husband, also a teacher, just got over pneumonia - probably caused by a case of it also.
So be careful. Atlanta is being hit pretty hard. Keep them in your prayers.

I've changed my mind. Now, I'm going to get the shot.

Captain Midnight is not a pseudonym for former vice president Dan Quayle, is it?

no to the swine flu shot -- i think there's been hella crazy fear-raising going on. and i prefer to not be a guinea pig for an experimental inoculation.

as for OSA being chronic -- i fully agree with the others who answer: it depends. If it's a result of overweight, then possibly loss of weight will solve the problem. but that ain't the case for me, however... so on an individual level, the answer would be yes.

Yes it seems to be the complications are the issue.

My daughter wasn't all that sick with the flu part but it turned into bronchitis over nite on its way to pneumonia.

I don't know if the swine flu vaccine is made the same way that the regular flu vaccine is made, but I've seen notices where if you're allergic to latex to not get the shot. Maybe they have a concern with people who are allergic to latex getting close to the nurses administering the shots who are wearing gloves. I have no idea.
So you get one chance in a lifetime to spend time with the sexiest man of the Boeshane Peninsula or traveling around in a TARDIS. Which would you choose?

The instructions re the "seasonal flu" vaccine say that if you are allergic to eggs not to get it.

My husband says, "I don't LIKE eggs! Does that count???"
