The Mirage LIberty DVD just showed some man and his lady happily spending the night because he fitted his Liberty correctly. Are there no instructions from manufacturers about female users? Am I the only one fighting genetic mouth breathing apeneic tendencies from the girly side of things? Ladies, am I right? I am allergic to adhesive tape so do I have to tie some cut off hose to my face? Surely, we pay enough to have properly fitting devices. C'mon!
My instructions are for the Hybrid mask.

Just curious as to why you did not get a Hybrid? With the Liberty you have a mask with one size of nose pillows and one size of mouth cushion. You have no chance to experiment with three different sizes like you have with the Hybrid.

The Liberty comes with one size oral cushion and 3 pillow sizes. The oral cushion measurement was simple and in my case, accurate.

(Damn, I hope no one in the office finds out I ask such questions.)
I call it the "Rooster wears pantyhose method". Has a certain ring to it, doncha think?

I get just the right amount of pressure to seal the pillows with a (manly-man) piece of 1/16" elastic. Without the bulk of feminine nylon, I might add...

On a more serious note: When I wash the Hybrid, the cushion ALWAYS comes out of the frame and I spend 5 mins or so getting it back in the groove. Is this common when it gets wet? Anyone figured a way to make it stay put? I find I'm not cleaning mine as often as I should because I don't want the hassle. (And it's nearly impossible to make it stay in place when both the seal and the frame are wet!)

I wash the cushions separately from the hard shell. The hard shell doesn't need washing very often because it doesn't touch your body.

I have three sets of cushions in rotation and when I wash one, I rotate in a dry one for that night.

If you insist on washing it frequently, I would wash the cushion and shell separately and let them dry separately.

Get you some tights you insecure male.

The only time I wrapped women's tights around my head I couldn't breathe at all! Was she supposed to take them off first?

My replies on this thread and others about the Hybrid have really been about the Liberty. So for those of you still working with it, I will share my experiences. I first got mine about a year and a half ago. I struggled with it for weeks and finally gave up and moved over to Swift pillows, which I used consistently for about a year, but I needed to use a humidifier with it. Every so often I would revert to a full face for a day or two because the pillows gave me nose sores after a week or so of use. That is all I could tolerate, but no humidifier was needed.
Then, out of desperation, one day about 6 months ago I dug out the old Liberty, just to try again and recall why I couldn't use it. It would leak, the pilllows wouldn't stay in place and I didn't get a good night's sleep. I knew the Liberty was a clever alternative, but couldn't understand why it didn't work. I tried all the different sized that came with it, but the pillows just would not reach me nose to make a good seal.
Then it came to me. The strap across the top of the head is the only one without adjustable velcro. (What's with that???) So I pinched it up and lo and behold the pillows seemed to seal up. So, I dug out a safety pin to fix that position of the headgear over the top of the head, and, voila, it worked. With this minor adjustment, it has become the only mask I use (except when I am on a business trip, which will change when my insurance covers a new mask: the Liberty again). No more humidifier and as long as I wash it daily and give it a monthly thorough washing, it works perfectly.
If you are having nose sores from this mask at the beginning, as I did, hang in there. Take a break from this mask and use your old mask for a day or two; in about a week I think you won't need you old mask ever again.

I did it. Yesterday I put in an order for the Hybrid. Can't wait for it to come in!
