Your CL2 came w/2 sizes of simple nasal cushion, right? Have you tried both sizes? I needed the Small w/the CL2 but the Petite in the Simplicity. You've tried adjusting the Up and Down tube, right?jomac30 wrote:Thanks for telling me about the Simplicity. I'm going to my DME next week for a new mask and will give it a try. It's nice to find another Simple Cushion user. For some reason this doesn't seem to be very popular among people here. Most seem to like the nasal seal or direct seal.
I'm wondering if I'm using the wrong size Simple Cushion because it goes almost up to the bridge of my nose and it does leave a red mark on my nose, I'm exited about getting a new mask next week.
As far as the red mark, that is common w/any mask that fits over the nose or bridge of nose. Several things to correct that: looser top straps, tighter bottom straps ... heck its just easier for you to click on the Red Ball at the top of this page w/the Question Mark in it, scroll down to Mask Fitting Tips or Sugestions or similar and you will find some good tips for eliminating that. Mack's Silicone Ear Plugs "fix", Breathe-Rite strip, ...

I'm glad the mod still works well for you, Linda. Here's the link:linda b wrote:I feel really bad that I cannot remember his name, but a guy on here lab ratted new headgear for the CL2 which I have copied and it is terrific. He used a baseball cap, cut a hole in the brim, inserted the CL2 tubing through it and that was about it. I've been using a visor version for quite some time and absolutely love it. It is much cooler, doesn't destroy what little hairdo I have, doesn't shift around, keeps the simple cushion in place and nicely sealed without any extra straps.
The more I think about it, I think it was either Greybeard or Bad Breath that posted about that, at least 6 months ago. Maybe a search of their posts will find the information.

I still use the visor with the CL2 assembly, but I prefer to use the Opus pillows with it. I use a 3/4" length of rigid flexible tube (1/2" I.D. X 5/8" O.D.) with one end stretched over the CL2 downtube and the other end inserted into the top of the Opus elbow. This so far is the ideal mask for me. And I can still switch back to the CL2 pillow, simple or direct seal cushions when I need a change.
It still makes me wonder when people have to buy pads for the face straps or use pantyhose to add pressure, when the ballcap mod eliminates any facial contact and reinforces the mask stability, all with easy on and off. Yes, it may require a little work at first, but every night thereafter it is easy to use and maintains a seal, with all kinds of movement and sidesleeping. And I have been able to create a ballcap mod for almost every mask I have tried (without any damage) including: the Flexfit 431,
the Opus
Opus Ballcap Mod,
the Aura/Headrest
Aura/Headrest Ballcap Mod,
and the NAII using Snapp or Bravo tubes, which is my currrent backup mask.

You'd think by my enthusiasm I was selling this solution, but I would just like to see others benefit from it.
Off my soapbox...
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this thread. My husband helped me drill the hole in the brim of the visor following BadBreath's directions. I also cut down the brim quite a bit to keep it from getting pushed around during side sleeping. I added some foam on the forehead part for extra comfort. And I added a very loose stretchy strap across the top to hold the top end of the tube because I did not like it flopping around.
I wear the small simple cushion. When I was using the regular CL2 headgear, I would occasionally use the medium size. Haven't tried it since going with the visor headgear. I wish they made a size in-between the small and medium -- it just seems to me that the difference between these two sizes is too great.
I've been using the CL2 with simple cushions since I started this therapy, in May 2006. I've tried the Optilife and the Simplicity. But I plan to just stay with this arrangement for the forseeable future. I mean, why mess with a good thing? So I continue to get the replacement parts as the insurance schedule allows (minus the headgear) just in case something breaks.
