JUNE 2 SWEDISH SLEEP CENTER WORKSHOP REPORT:
I must say the day was well worth the trip for me! I am deeply disappointed that I didn't get to meet SleepySandy and Blarg, but I feel confident we'll get together sometime in the future!!!
I did really enjoy getting to know IBTeri from Tacoma, and PaulB, and Gasp. We were very boisterous about talking up Cpaptalk.com, and in fact, I gave out tons of business cards to people wanting to find out how to find this forum!
Vendors were there from Puritan Bennett, Respironics, Resmed, and InnoMed. F&P didn't make it, but one of the RT's had put up a small F&P display. Lots of masks to see, and the vendors were kind in letting us try them on.
The information in the workshop was useful, though I didn't really need the lecture on congestive heart failure. I think cpap users already know that, or else we wouldn't be patients. I would like to have heard more about metabolic syndrome, which was only briefly talked about, and they promised future workshops on that.
The Q&A at the end was very good. Very reminiscent of this forum, except there was a PROFESSIONAL RT there fielding questions. John Basile was good, and I liked his responses to some very tough questions. I think Swedish Sleep Center can be highly commended by their proactive approach to educating their patients and at least SAYING ALL THE RIGHT THINGS.
Teri and I are traumatized from our DME experience (we had the same one and spent most of the day swapping horror stories) so we are skeptical about how the RT will be PRACTICE. However, SleepySandy gives the Swedish Sleep Center very high praise, so I just want you to know that I can be skeptical that the sky is blue some days, so don't take my crankiness to heart.
Teri and I were the only ones who brought masks to play with, and by the end of the day we'd figured out that I had one she wanted, and she had two *I* wanted, so Teri got majorly shafted and I got a two-fer deal. I promised Teri I'd make it up to her with a treat to be named later...
Discovered that Gasp is more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and we really need to schedule some summer fun events on the east side. Anyone wanna go to Camlaan Faire?
Thank you PaulB for tweaking my Twilight for me! Helped alot to have an experienced user show me how it's done.
So, I highly recommend upcoming Swedish Sleep Center workshops, and hopefully I'll get email announcements about those and I'll share those with you!!!
Cheers,
Barbara
I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
