This *brutal* "honesty?" is still so far superior to my experiences with the existing US medical care and the ridiculous concept of DME's having power over us, that reading these threads is refreshing even in their raw pain.

I would know better in real life than to get involved in a family argument. I've never even seen JEDIMARK post before but it is clear to *me* that he is very special ... as this is being posted here publicly, please excuse my forwardness in commenting. Perhaps no one is looking for outside comments?

The Gifted often have traits that are as different from "the norm" in a perceived negative way as their levels of genius are in areas where others can only stand back in awe and try to understand.

I can barely use my cellphone and know NOTHING about tech or coding but I do have a little experience with the Profoundly Gifted and the problems they face communicating and being understood. THEY (The PG) of course understand, it is the frustration of communicating to OTHERS where the misunderstandings occur. There are massive hoards of "others" who haven't a clue the problem is really on their end. The radio waves are there but they just do not have a radio so they haven't a clue. And they are comforted to find tens of thousand more just like themselves.

As, *I* cannot relate to the process it takes to do what JEDIMARK does, my mind created an analogy and question that *I* could understand and ponder. It's an effort to TRY and relate.

Of course "hypothetical" (as I've found facing real life and death) is a fairly useless indicator of what we would "actually" do.

... but anyway ..this *my* question to *me*. I thought I'd share in case anyone else would like to think about their answer.

~~~grace simplified QUESTION:
"If I were given the power to completely cure cancer, but I had to meet, understand, and find love for each patient and then hug them with an open heart (and they'd then be completely cured) ... would I give up all the rest of the minutes of all of my days "hugging" and saving these lives?"
I'm still trying to find my most honest answer to this question. Not the knee jerk easy answer.
I'm still super impressed to see such honesty and freedom here on the internet and so grateful for Johnny and CPAPTALK. This is a great group of people with really impressive cursing abilities ~~~and *I* F@ck!ng love an original, creative and passionate cusser :wink:
...and of course in full disclosure I really am crazy about Palerider and I believe he really wants to be a friend and helper to JediMark. If *I* could threeway hug those two and all the problems would be healed I would walk out the door to where they are right now.
...because *THIS* is the REAL DEAL!
Peace, Love, Understanding and FREEDOM, y'all ~~~
(Don't stop til you get it right)
Began XPAP May 2016. Autoset Pressure min. 8 / max 15. Ramp off. ERP set at 2. No humidity. Sleepyhead software installed and being looked at daily, though only beginning to understand the data.
I've been a member of this forum for 14 years. During my 14 years two or three others made software available for free which died from lack of support/updates as new machines came to market. All having short lives compared to Sleepyhead, none were cross platform like SH. Basically the developers wrote the software for themselves and made it available for free.
I for one appreciate having SH and would hate to see it die. Can't we try to get along and appreciate what we have before it's gone.
I did try, Right up to where I got kicked in the face..
I don't pay to have t-shirts made for people I don't like... ya know.
"what size do you wear?" "what's your favorite color?" I had a slogan, and he *said* he liked it... "SleepyHeadMan"... I tried to be a friend, I tried to advocate for Sleepyhead and urged things that I thought could help people love the program as much as I did.
And for quite a while, that worked out great.... then, as now, 47 vehicle pileup on the interstate.
Dunno what this is about so much, but I couldn't agree more. This "palerider" person sets a truly nasty tone in here. I had to block it because it was making the boards too unpleasant to visit. Thank you for the sleepyhead btw. I'm just a regular user trying to figure out my sleep stuff. Definitely take care of your family first, but I hope you don't punish the rest of us because of this palerider jackass. I've been in a lot of forums over time and have rarely met such a disagreeable individual.
Jedimark is not punishing us due to PaleRider. There is another Speep Apnea forum that was trying to take ownership of SleepyHead just as Mark was going to reveal some improved software.
Mark has decided to end SleepyHead development, at least for not. The other forum is pressing ahead with their own agenda. I hope to be able to make some of Mark's unreleased testing improvements available to users here. I am definitely not a programmer, but I will do what I can to keep this tool useful to us. Mark is still watching here as he cares for his family.
C'mon now, you were there reading the discord chat as well as I was.
Nobody was trying to "take ownership", they were trying to *fix some bugs* (after all, that's why they were invited onto the dev team) while Whatkins was off in lalaland, allegedly either a) coding his little heart out, or b) working on 'commercial ventures', depending on which part of his rants you want to pay more attention to.
All of this childish temper tantrum is because he couldn't bear the thought of someone else doing something *TO HELP*.
I did read the Discord chat. On Discord Mark was excited to share some news about SleepyHead 2. Instead, a massive physical migraine was triggered when he saw what was happening. I an ot condoning Mark's actions & words but it helps to realize he is physically hurting & sleep deprived too. I do think he is trying to calm down. I still get an occasional email from him.
I also saw some private conversation (not from Mark) to "prove" that Mark approved continuing on. When I read that I saw he did not approve but wanted to think about it some more.
I also, in a different chat forum heard a particular user say they needed SleepyHead 1.1 to show to the 9000 people they speak to every year. This was apart from Mark's accusations.
I was invited to participate in the other forum but declined.
There is no one in the Sleep Apnea Comunity that wants to "harm" Sleepyhead or Mark. Sleepyhead is a phenomenal product that has helped many thousands of people around the world. I applaud Mark for the tremendous effort he has put forth over the last eight years.
What happened to Trigger Marks latest posts?
It was Mark's, now former, second in command that approved of this being done. The team asked Mark's second in command "So for the foreseeable future, he will not be involved, and bug fixes, help files and translations for version 1.1.x will be up to us. I think that's a reasonable interpretation. Do you agree?" and his response was "Entirely!"
There was no attempt to takeover Sleepyhead by anyone, hostile or otherwise.
There was no Fork of the code, and to this day there is none.
There were attempts by Apnea Community volunteers, only attempts to help Mark as stated above, to apply bug fixes, help files and translations for version 1.1.x.
About a week ago Mark posted that 1.1.0 was "fatally flawed", the volunteers found that it was functional enough to provide users of the Philips BiPAP ASV and ST machines, and the Fischer Paykel Intellipap 2 enough functionality to be able to dial in their machine like the rest of the community utilizing Sleepyhead already is capable of. Now Mark lists this product as downloadable.
There is functionality for Philips BiPAP ASV and ST machine, and the Fischer Paykel Intellipap 2 that were previously added to Sleepyhead version 1.1.0. If your machine was one of these would you want this? Even if it wasn't perfect? Thought so. This was intended as an interim build pending Mark's completion of V2.0, nothing more. To put what we considered important functionality out there, and enable Mark to concentrate on V2.0. The goal was to strengthen and support the Apnea Community, and definitely not to take anything away from Mark.
Your loyalty, Sancho Panza, is commendable, but be wary, the snake turns, and turns quickly when it decides to strike.
Well, this seems quite the complicated situation. I just hope that development continues one way or the other for the sake of all the people this software is capable of helping.
I also hope that possibly Jedimark will return after some time has passed. Either way, I wish him well and hope his health improves and he finds contentment in life.
I'd like to hope that there are enough programmers and testers out there to ensure that there'll be some future for a data reading program.
Perhaps, one day, should mark get the help he needs, he could once again participate.
