My nose was sore the first week after I started using the nasal pillows. On too tight, not the right size, straps needed to be adjusted, skin irritation all contributed. Play with everything. It should not "hurt" to wear it. Sit in a chair watching TV, or lay on the couch and see if you start getting pain. If you do, loosen up , reposition the straps until it feels comfortable.

I also had to get a different pillow. My pillow ground the mask into the side of my face, causing it to bend my nose.

Last night was my first night using my Cpap machine. I'm using an Airfit P10 and my pressure is a 7. The fit is good, no leaks, etc. My nostrils hurt so much..I know it will take some time to get used to. Any advice for a newbie would be great. Does the Ayr gel work to soothe nostrils? I have the humidifier set to "auto"….so I think everything is fine…I think it's just initial discomfort since I've never worn nasal pillows before. Sigh….I know it will take a while to get used to…but I'm so tired today!

The mask should not hurt. Here are some basic tips to help:

- The manufacturer's fitting and adjustment video can be found on this page - https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... dgear.html

- Observe how the hose runs from the machine to the mask. Manage your hose in such a way that it does not pull on the mask when you move in the bed. You need some slack in the hose. Check when you bed down that the slack is there.

- Do use a small amount of Lansinoh lanolin on irritated areas.

you just keep making crap up... what I *SAID* was:

perhaps you've forgotten, or not noticed the *MANY* posts here from people that are adjusting to nasal pillow masks.

nose pain is *COMMON* when first starting out. doesn't bother everybody (my bedmate never had a problem), but does bother many (myself included), hence the frequent recommendation to use lanolin on the sore nostrils.

The first night is especially hard. I have Swift FX pillows and it was a couple weeks before the pain totally went away, even with the proper fit on the headgear. It gets better though. Trust.

I tried nasal pillows, and my nose hurt for a week!! It never got better with them, so I switched to a different mask...Problem was solved instantly!!!
