Without CPAP, do you snore audibly?

Post by SleepingUgly » Sun Feb 05, 2012 7:34 pm

Just curious about this... Even without CPAP, I don't snore audibly as far as any human can tell. Only on sleep studies am I regarded as "snoring". Is this uncommon?

Don't know if it's "uncommon" but I also have never been told I snored.

Same here, didn't really snore much if at all before xpap.
Now with the mask on I snore quite a bit. I attribute that to the mask straps pushing my chin back closing the airway more. When you think about it, seems kind of backwards.

Hi all...
I'm a major snorer and was for years before diagnosis. Now, if I nap or sleep without cpap, I wake with a sore throat from snoring.

My daughter called me Mama Bear. Other people were not so nice about it.

I've been told I snore. Pre-pap I would occasionally wake my self up with a kind of snore/gasp. Guess that should have been my first clue eh?

If I rolled on my back, yes. On my side, rarely. Never gasping.

Hubby complained about my snoring for years, but always said that I never stopped breathing. I didn't believe that I had OSA. I was shocked at the results of my sleep test. Apparently my sleep was interrupted some 40 to 50 times per hour.

The past 6 months on PAPpy, I have only snored three times -- when I wasn't wearing the mask. Duh! Although, sometimes I feel like I am snoring WITH the mask. Hubby says no, I'm not. I wonder what that sound is??????

Before cpap it was so bad the dogs would get up and leave the bedroom.

Commercial jet pilots flying jets over my house would file noise complaints with the police about my snoring.

Not every apneac snores.
