Thanks for this update, Dori. I know you all still have a long road ahead of you, but this sounds like you're heading in the right direction.

Dori, are you taking good care of yourself? I hope you have someone that is helping you CAN make sure you are okay.

You and Mike will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted as you can.

Please take care of YOU as well.

Dori - remember to "put your mask on first before helping others" as they say in the airplane. Eat properly and get the rest you need or you will be in the hospital too.

Good luck to both of you.

Find your little pleasures where you can. I helped my father through an extensive rehab and found it was necessary for me to take time for me throughout the day so I could be fresh for him and keep my own mental strength. For me it was doing my nails while looking out a window, reading a good book a few chapters at a time, walking outside for a bit. Prayers for his speedy recovery and your strength.

Please take care of yourself DoriC so that you don't end up in the bed next to him!

Have been off-line for a few days and just now seeing this.

Glad to hear that Mike is improving; adding my healing zen to all the prayers and other good wishes for him (and you, too), Dori.

Dori, will he be able to get back to using his CPAP in rehab?
Yes, definitely, the Drs and I want him on it the first night he's in rehab which should be tomorrow, he would have gone today but there were no social workers on duty today because of the holiday, can you believe it? All the paperwork was in order except for one lousy SW signature! It's some sort of state law that a patient can't be moved to another facility without that piece of paper! What can I expect in terms of starting over after one week of no cpap? I won't be there during the night to supervise him so I'd like to be able tell the nurses what to look for.

I asked the Dr this morning if he could book a room for me at the rehab! It looks like a 5-star hotel, Mediterranean decor, dining room has pink tablecloths with bouquets of flowers, the library/activity room has 2 wide-screen TVs and several laptops and plush recliners, not bad!

I guess you can tell I'm feeling a little relieved this evening, the Drs and nurses are amazed at Mike's fighting spirit, he does whatever he's told to do without complaint and is so pleasant even when he's not feeling well. He's a very special man and I hope I've conveyed some of that to all of you. When I told him that I asked for your prayers for him, he said I shouldn't have done that, you've all got your own problems to deal with but he wanted me to thank you for helping me take care of his sleep apnea.

Oh yes, you've made very sure we know that. Once when we were complimenting you saying how lucky he was to have you, you told us about how lucky you are to have him. I'm glad two good people found each other. A beautiful couple you are.

Dori, I'm so glad things are turning around and that you're both feeling better. Mike has been on CPAP so long that I doubt there will be any readjustment period, but what do I know.
