Are they kidding?
They are that confident that online companys wont resist this and end users (that would be us)wont stop buying their products?
I have bought my last resmed product.

they just don't get it do they, oh wells, i can't wait till their sales are in the crapper and maybe then they will stand back and re-evaluate the situation, maybe then they will realize that they are headed in the way wrong direction.
and i will never buy another resmed product either, they think their stuff is that good, they can keep it.

Where we come from they call that price gouging and fraud!
I didn't really think they would be so flagrant about it. I thought maybe they would silently raise the wholesale prices of their internet retailers, just as wrong and probably even more illegal, but not as easy to prove.
Lets see if I understand this right, internet sales are affecting our ability to gouge medicare and private health insurance so we'll just put a 40% tax on internet sales. I wonder if the lawyers were asleep when they ran this one through the board meeting?
Anyway, I wrote my congressman with a respectful letter referencing the 40% passage in that article. I doubt that it will do any good, but its better than bottling up my anger. I've been wanting to try a different mask anyway! Maybe I'll find another brand that doesn't leak like sieve!

have you tried the comfortfull 2 or the ff 431? the cf2 is my every night mask, so i'm used to it, works decently once it breaks in. and more importantly it's not made by resmed.

I've got a Comfort Full, not the 2, but it is a small. The RT at my DME originally gave me a medium UM FF. When I went back and said I needed a small, they gave me a small Comfort Full, which was too small. So I ordered a small UM off Yahoo! Auctions.
It fits better, but I am still plagued by leaks no matter which way I adjust it.

Does anyone else think that the last paragraph of that story will bring the truckers beating on Resmeds door to buy their products.

You guys can blame ResMed, but as I keep saying, we are not viewed customers by the manufacturers. Instead, the DME's and physicians are viewed as their customers.
Anybody wanna bet which of their two customer groups is behind this? I'd bet on one of the big DME's. (Can anybody spell A-P-R-I-A ? )
I just have to wonder how far behind Respironics, PB, et. al. will be.
Regards,
Bill

I was going to get the ResMed FF Mask next, I can't believe it, Lincare called me today to see if I needed anything. It's been over 10 months, must have been a slow day, so I gave her my wish list, and told her I was in the market for a second machine. I would have really felt bad if the ResMed mask had been on my order, but thank goodness I didn't order it, I think Restmed has made too much money off our backs, although I'm proud to say they havn't got any of mine, and it doesn't sound like they ever will. can they do it?
They stopped ebay from selling, I guess after online sellers, they will go for yahoo. I am sure their huge legal department can outspend the average vendor.
Seems the insurance industry should get behind keeping prices down, maybe writing them instead of politicians would be more beneficial. Perhaps after they raise prices so no one can afford to pay out of pocket, they will start a "charitable" program for uninsured, making them look compassionate.

So it begins. At the same time, ResMed has struggled to control cut-rate sales of its products over the Internet. In August the firm plans to implement a 40% price increase on Internet prices to get them in line with reimbursement rates.
ResMed currently is sending letters to its online vendors asking that they agree not to resell the products to other distributors, and not sell them internationally.
The wild card is how all this will play out with consumers and vendors, Warren says.
"What will the competitive response be?" he said. "Does anything ResMed or its competitors do precipitate litigation from consumer groups, or from people who currently sell on the Internet?"
These concerns aside, ResMed's marketing machine is roaring away.

Yes, I think it does. How do we start?

Nice to see the leader of a major manufacturer for Apnea therapy has no true clue of what Apnea is other than a money machine. From his quote one would assume that being obese with smoking and alcoholism mixed in with other substance abuse is the cause of Apnea. I know I had this as a youth and that it was more hereditary than lifestyle. Not only the road warriors should be up in arms. This guy is an insensitive ass who doesn't care about anythign but demographics.
Well he has priced his product outside this consumer's tolerance level.
