Ok so someone help me out here.

I am looking seriously at the S8 Auto II and this one....

What are the pros and cons or basically why should I choose one or the other?

THANKs so much!!! Slinky for the System One Auto information you got from the PR rep. A formal release of specifics on models and projected availability dates would sure be appreciated!

Here is a quote from the website you gave.
Users new to CPAP equipment find the Flex feature provides airflow at just the right pressure relief for every breath and makes adapting to CPAP therapy easier.
So I was wondering if someone had a lot of trouble adapting with a machine the DME gave them, could they then argue this and perhaps get a new machine? For example, someone like me who is on Medicare?

It may be worth a try. I'd love to try one out.

As far as I know (someone correct me if I am wrong), you have EPR on the machine you currently have. It is similar to the Flex feature on Resirponics machines, which is available even on the ones that came out before this new one.

I doubt you could use an exhalation relief feature as an argument to get this machine when you probably already have it on your machine.

Stumbled upon the following while searching for news releases from PR on this new series APAP. Haven't seen this before - from Donald J. Spence, CEO, Philips Home Healthcare - and though it is dated 9 months ago, ya just gotta see what he says about PR's comittment their customers - the "customer" (as I read it & correct me if I am off base) doesn't appear to be cpap user's.

Personally, I am loosing more hope that we user's will have any access to our data.

(sorry, but the letter was "locked" in it's pdf format and I couldn't copy it post it.)

I think the evil DeathStar is poised for a strike against the Empire.

"..our mission is to work together with our provider customers in an effort to improve patients' lives. "

"First,...providing solutions to the home healthcare market. Your needs are our #1 priority."

"Second.....have you believe we intend to go around the existing customers and sell
directly to patients. ......no plans to do this."

Third....EncoreAnywhere....enables our customers to proactively gather, present and share patient information,
....intended to provide lower cost......for monitoring patient acceptance...
over manually intensive legacy alternatives.
...also provides lower cost when changing prescriptions in the field."

I'm hang'n on to my "legacy alternatives" and as the new systems come on line,
I will be stocking up my supply of self monitoring systems.

Well darn!! As a patient we just can't win!! This information ought to slow sales at least here. First Resmed then Respirionics. Anyone know if Respirionics well sell 2.1 out of the country somewhere!! The "M" Series might turn out to be not such a bad machine afterall. Maybe I should stock up like the guys did with the tanks when the "M" came out.

That letter has been around a long time. But look at who it's addressed to...

"Dear Homecare and Sleep Diagnostic Providers:"

PR hardly ever aim there marketing materials towards the patient.

I think if we want software... we have to not buy the machine and inundate PR with requests for a consumer version.

That said, from a guy who already... oppps... I guess I will be looking for way to finagle the pro version.

Can you help a newby out? What do you mean by "proper approval for in-flight use"?
Does that come from Respironics or has it something to do with the airline? TIA

Exactly socalmonkey! And let's look again at the title of said letter - "Our Commitment to Customers Remains Foremost." Call me crazy but I thought we who purchase and use a company's CPAP products were the customers and the DME, Sleep Clinics were re-sellers of those products. Doesn't bode well for the end user (as we are/will?? see).

And then there are more "pointers" inside the letter (thanks carbonman for posting some of it's excerpts for us! - how'd you do that?) that, to my hope-I'm-wrong interpretation, suggest (me being kind) they will manage our data their way or the highway.

Who knows? I don't. Time will tell.

That is certainly the impression I am getting from this also.

It's a locked .pdf file. I had to type the quotes out.
I thought it was important.

As it appears, this is not going in the direction of help for the patient.
It is more medical industry control and greed.
