Mask Test Drives - Try a mask before you buy it

Postby Babette on Tue Nov 04, 2008 4:01 pm

In the spirit of helping folks find out about all the various Mask Test Drives out there, I thought I'd post this list. Please feel free to add to this thread, as you find out about new Test Drives that open up.

HYBRID – by pjwalman

SMALL LIBERTY – by fortomorrow
viewtopic/t35474/ResMed-Mirage-Liberty-Test-Drive.html

LARGE LIBERTY – by echo

COMFORT GEL MEDIUM – by 2girlsmom

NASAL AIRE II – by Babette
viewtopic/t30639/The-Return-of-the-Great-Nasal-Aire-II-Test-Drive.html

And, the Original that started it all.... Mask Roulette. This is NOT a test drive per se, it's a thread where you can post masks you'd be willing to trade, and find other people willing to trade off their unwanted masks. It's what inspired me to start "test driving" masks to people. I would send them masks "on trial" and if they didn't like it, they could send them back. I still encourage folks to do that.

Mask Roulette – thread for swapping masks
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19546

Editted 11/07/08 to add:

The Great Pillow Exchange – A thread for swapping different sized nasal pillows
viewtopic/t36070/THE-GREAT-PILLOW-EXCHANGE.html

For those of you feeling generous - take a mask you don't want, and send it out into the world on a Test Drive. You might really be glad you did!

Or take a mask you LOVE, and attempt to evangelize the world.

I have to say I've had only about a 25% conversion rate on my NAII Test Drive, but hey, you think the Mormon's do any better with their door-to-door salesmen? (Before you slap me, bear in mind that my nephew leaves on Mission February 09. Do be kind to the big lumbering bear from Meteetse, WY when he knocks on your door....)

Cheers,
Babette

I can attest to Bab's NA II test drive. Great thing she started and I'd like to reiterate Bab's post and encourage others that have multiples whether they use/like them or not to offer them up for test drives.

I got the NA II from Bab's through a test drive, and though I don't use it a lot, it is in my collection for use if needed. I tend to rotate between masks, though my "go to" mask is the Headrest. The Headrest sometimes irritates my nose, so I'll use my ComfortGel for a few nights until my nose mellows out a bit. If I get totally frustrated with the seal on the HR, I'll go to the NA II. For me, the NA II works well, though I don't like the exhaust location or the noise, it's a keeper.....

Great idea!!!! Keep 'em rollin'!!!!!

cheers

And to add onto goose's encouragement:

- If you have unused parts that you can donate to the running test drives, please PM the appropriate member running the test drive. (hint hint, liberty's will need replacement elbows ;) )

- If you have unused masks, and want to send them out for a test drive, but don't have the energy to actually manage a test drive, let us (me) know and someone (I) can coordinate it. The more masks out there in rotation, the better!

Thanks y'all

ps. Goose - I hope you joined Ozij's poll! ;)

Hey Echo....
Yup. Sure have. I'm a guy and haven't decapitated the Headrest yet....The headgear fits me so it's not a big issue for me as it is for some of you ladies that have much more petite heads that most of us fat headed guys....
I'd eventually like to fit it to the Pap-Cap. The cap kinda works with the ComfortGel, but it's too rigid for my "style"....Fits ok, but when the mask leaks I pull it away from my face to let it re-inflate and I don't seem to be able to do that with the Pap-Cap straps.....

take care
cheers
