I have been on CPAP since November 2008. I have lost 20 pounds since starting, and my blood pressure decreased. I was always exhausted and fatigued. I began sleeping every chance I got. I would come home from work and go directly to bed. I slept all weekend. I had two car accidents because of falling alseep at the wheel. I woke up several times a month with debilitating migraines, that would sometimes last days. I fell into a deep depression. I was diagnosed as having high blood pressure because I was overweight. I was overweight because I was depressed. I was depressed because I had debilitating migraines. Not once did a doctor ever put 2 and 2 together, and figure out that I might have sleep apnea, until I met my savior, who is, and always will be my family practitioner. He sent me to get a sleep study and the rest is history.
I am officially a new woman. I have very few migraines now (maybe 6 in a year?). I am not depressed. I love life. My husband is so thankful. CPAP saved my life.
CPAP is a huge pain in the butt, but if you take charge of your own healthcare and bug the hell out of the veterans on CPAPtalk.com, and order the right products from the good folks at CPAP.com, you will feel better eventually.
Don't give up.
And taping your mouth shut may sound like the weirdest thing in the world, but it works!!!!!
