Facemask issues

Post by Gatamaz » Sun Aug 17, 2014 7:51 am

I use a full mask...a Resmed Fx and in order to stop it from leaking I have to tighten up the straps
to the point it is uncomfortable and after 5 hours the face pain makes me take the mask off. I don't
have a large full face and where it hurts is on my cheek bones. My question is does any company make
a mask that will form fit to your cheek bone. Every mask I see is designed with a flat surface on
your face and they depend on the cushions to form to your face. I feel I would be way ahead of the game
if I had a mask that had some bend at the cheek bone.

Masks are funny (sometimes), if they are too tight or too loose, more leakage will occur. I had a difficult time with leaks when I first started this cpap journey. I found that mask liners helped a great deal with leaks; these days I spend very little time in large leak territory, and I rarely wake up from any leaks. The mask liners were a game changer for me! The liners act as a gasket between face and mask, plus they can protect from skin irritation.

Karen at Pad-A-Cheek makes nice ones; she is a member of this forum - http://www.padacheek.com, or you can get RemZzzz liners from most DMEs or online from our forum sponsors at https://www.cpap.com. There is a tutorial on mask fitting written by another forum member; I've forgotten how to find it but someone will likely be along to give you the link to that.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.
