Oracle mask liner?

Post by photonic » Wed Aug 13, 2014 10:58 pm

I am using the oracle mask very successfully but am beginning to get some light red marks around my chin where the outer flap is probably rubbing some. Also a little bit on my upper lip. I do not have it tightened too much. This makes shaving hard because my skin gets further abraded. I have searched for liners on the board but there are only some oblique comments.

Has anyone figured out how to make one or found a source for an Oracle liner?

Thanks in advance.

Two things:

First, when you take the mask off in the morning, are there indentations (pressure lines) on the skin in the outline of the mask?
If so, then the mask adjustment is too tight. Loosen the adjustment ring gradually until the pressure lines are gone in the morning.

Second, if you have a very soft, well washed t-shirt, you can make a mask liner yourself. Using the inner flap piece, make an outline that is about 3/4 inch larger that the flap. Cut on that line and then make a small incision in the center that is aligned with the protrusion and about 1/2 inch longer. You've got a sample liner. It slips between the inner and outer flaps as you assemble the mask. When you put the mask on, take care to pull the liner out to the sides just a little bit until the part that is touching you is smooth. You can experiment with the incision line, making it thicker, etc. to eliminate wrinkles and so forth.

Thanks, I made one this evening and will test drive it tonight. Your measurements were great, but perhaps the center slit a bit long. We shall see. Thanks for all the direction!

Also last night I tried your nose clip again after loosening it up slightly per your instructions. Worked GREAT. No more shooting the plugs out of my nose in the middle of the night. Also my max EPAP didn't go as high and perhaps this was the difference.

I must say I am very pleased with the Oracle mask. The smallest face alien in the known CPAP universe!!
