Re: Finding a XXL mask
Panasonic? Where are you located?
That is a mask brand I've never seen.
Maybe you mean Respironics--they have so many models,
but sometimes the model name is printed on it somewhere.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
Are you using a 'nasal' mask (one that just covers your nose) or a 'full face' mask - like a nasal one, but extends downward to cover your mouth so you can breathe with it open but not lose therapy air that way... it'll still go down your airway. And the dryness is usually from having your mouth open when sleeping. You may not need an XXL mask, but a properly fitted one that suits you... however there is one called the Total Fit Life (look it up on Cpap.com for details) that covers more area, but not so closely... hard to explain - look at the pix.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
This is that mask:

It may not seem logical, but the air inside the mask remains still, and only is felt when and where it is leaking.
This means the eyes are free from noticeable air currents.
Not everyone can wear this one, but it's been around for a long time.

Tried the large Quattro Air or F10? They seem very big to me.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
Regardless of what you may be told, the Quattro Air runs about a half size to a full size smaller than any other FFM I've tried. And I've tried virtually all of them. I'm getting by with a large but actually need an extra large (which of course they don't make).englandsf wrote:Tried the large Quattro Air or F10? They seem very big to me.
ResMed will readily admit this to be the case, but say they have no plans to offer an XL. Their solution is to wear the mask lower on the face than other FFMs, which is how they say it is designed to be worn.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
I hear you Old Dude - but "low" wearing for me just blocks my nose bridge completely. I am stuck between a medium and a large in effect.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
I wear a Medium Quattro with no problem. I tried a Quatro Air in a Large and it was too small...really too narrow. I had to return it to my DME.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
No one manufactures an XXL or whatnot. This isn't the clothing aisle at WalMart....PAP-PAPSCPAP1948 wrote:New to this forum. The sizing generally maxes at large or even XL although some nasal masks have extra wide and large sizes. The Wisp has an XL cushion version, for example.
The terms are pretty irrelevant because there is not really a published size standard given to the public -- an L in one mask may be much different than in another. The Hans Rudolph V2 FFMs fit one size larger than other manufacturers, so a small V2 = a Medium Quattro, etc. So a large V2 should be pretty huge. The Fisher Paykel Forma FFM does technically come in an XL version.
The best bet is to simply go to your DME and get properly sized for a mask -- they have all the sizing templates to see what would best fit you. Alternatively, print them out from the manufacturers' websites. You may really only need a medium or a large. Without checking you will simply not be sure.

Re: Finding a XXL mask
THANKS everyone for their input as to how to find an XXL CPAP mask. Appears that I should use more of my engineering background and cast a latex mask over a frontal bust of self. Once the latex mask is designed, laid and trimmed, insert in existing XL mask for the best comfort fit...this method could work for anyone with an ill-fitting mask....next task will be to convert present strap contraption into a breathing strap what doesn't cause blisters around your neck and cheeks. Thanks again!

Re: Finding a XXL mask
You could try a cloth mask--Sleepweaver Anew.
Someone here has altered a fabric mask to make a smaller size by adding fabric to reduce the size of the hole
Maybe a little trimming of the hole to make it larger?
Maybe it would fit as is--it's a soft mask.
