Remstar auto aflex spewing black particles

Post by Johnaldous1 » Mon Aug 11, 2014 9:26 am

Hi; I would like to inquire if anybody have experienced using remstar auto aflex equipment that emits black particles. Upon closer investigation, it seems the black particles are actually some sort of degrading black foam from inside the equipment.
Not yet sure how to attach the image.

Could be your filter breaking down. When was it last replaced?

Thanks for your fast reply. No, I have replaced it with a new one already. However, upon closer look into the hole where the filter covers it, I can see some kind of black foam that's already kind of disintegrating. This is a different foam than what is placed outside. I would like to remove it but it is not easily accessible without dismantling the equipment. I'm still contemplating but it seems the screws are not a common type.

Temporarily, you can install a bacterial filter downstream from the blower unit to prevent the particles from getting to you.

*which* model do you have? the old M series, or the new system one?

the old Ms were full of foam, (I took one apart)

the newer system one models take a t15 torx, I believe.

I'm using the newer system one model. I'm trying to search / google the service manual for system one but could not find one. Does anyone have a soft copy? Or any experience taking the system one apart?

I have found somebody who have tried tearing down his system one.

It seems that the foam that is disintegrating in my equipment is the insulation foam. All I need now is to get hold of appropriate screw drivers to clean it up. My equipment was bought 2009. Could it be that this is the max life of the insulation foam?

The two screws on the bottom of the blower unit are Torx 15 screws. You can get a set at most auto parts stores, home stores, or electronics stores.

you'll also need a t20 for (at least) one screw inside.
