Can you turn a Bipap into and APAP?

Post by Pesser » Sun Aug 10, 2014 11:44 am

I am referring to bi-level by Respironcis.

Can you adjust the settings on a PR760 so that the IPAP is 10 and the EPAP is 9; and have it on auto? How close to an APAP would this be?

Pesser,

And IPAP = 10 and EPAP = 9 does not give a PR 760 much room to maneuver in BiPAP Auto mode. If you use:
  • min EPAP = 9
    max IPAP = 10
    min PS = 0
    max PS = 1
then the possible pressure combinations are:

EPAP = 9, IPAP = 9, 9.5, 10
EPAP = 9.5, IPAP = 9.5, 10
EPAP = 10, IPAP = 10.

To get your PR 760 BiPAP Auto to act like a regular APAP, all you need to do is set max PS = 0 and min EPAP = desired minimum pressure and max IPAP = desired max pressure.

For example: If you wanted the machine to act like a PR Auto CPAP with min pressure = 7 and max pressure = 11, you would set:
  • min EPAP = 7
    max IPAP = 11
    min PS = 0
    max PS = 0
