My friend is trying an S8 and Mirage and chin strap (b because of mouth breathing) and is doing well. The machine is set for 10 - 13 by her doctor. She uses the humidifier at mid-setting. Her hose is not heated. The machine is three feet lower than her head. At that setting in the AM she has two problems:
1. Water condenses in the tubing and in her mask in spite of the height differential.
2. AM bloating and gas.
Suspect that if the pressure is lowered and she uses heated tubing and reduces the humidifier setting, she will be better off.
Thoughts ?

Re: Aerophagia & condensation using S8 and Mirage FX
Do you have access to data from the machine? That would help. It would be helpful if some apnea indices were known.
AHI, OSA, Hyp, etc. For example are all OSA events controlled? How about Hypopneas, etc.?
That way there might be an indication that the pressures might be lowered.
Apparently for some folks, the line between effective therapy and aerophagia is very narrow.
Condensation if the mask is typically from the humidity in the exhaled breath.
In the hose from the humidity from the machine.
Any chance the room temperature could be raised a few degrees?
Has she tried lowering the humidity setting on the machine? Does that leave things too dry?
A first try might be to insulate both parts with a commercial hose wrap or one made at home with fleece fabric.
I don't know of a way to insulate the mask itself, just the connecting hose.
Otherwise a heated hose will likely help the hose part. Extra insulation around the mask hose will help the mask condensation.

Re: Aerophagia & condensation using S8 and Mirage FX
The only heated hose that will work with the S8 machine would be a stand alone heated hose like the Hybernite 2300 or the Aussie heated hose. A hose cozy would be a less expensive option to try first. Either homemade or bought online.
For the aerophagia sometimes just a little drop in pressure will lessen the symptoms. If not using EPR...that's what I would try first.

EPR is at max, and there's no water in her mask unless water appears in her tubing. Will change her to an S9 with ClimateLine.
I don't use water in my chamber.
She takes a fiber drink at night, so suggest she stop it since excess fiber at night can be confused with aerophagia.
