The REF 450 ensures that the machine will give you meaningful data (apnea events, leak levels...) to track your therapy.

People here sell masks from time to time, and sometimes unused unopened masks are sold on Craigslist. With some masks you can buy the new parts (no Rx required) and assemble the mask yourself. Weird but true.

What does the REF 450 ensure?
ebay, amazon...

you can get mask parts on ebay and build a mask, because while they prohibit selling a whole mask, (cuz that's a sick bird.. ) they allow selling all the parts. byom kinda thing my first mask was used, I just cleaned it according to the manufacturers instructions for multi patient use. (like, 176f water for 30 minutes or something, it varies from mask to mask, but that's pasturizing temps )

ref 450 is a straight cpap, but with full data.
550 is an auto setting one, (rough equivilent of the resmed autoset).
650 is a bi-level 750 is a auto bi-level, 950 is an adaptive servo ventilator,

x60 is the newer version of all of those.

if you're wondering, the primary ref codes for resmeds are:

primary codes:
36001 S9 "Escape" (CPAP Only no data)
36002 S9 "Escape Auto" (No data apap mode)
36003 S9 "Elite" (cpap only)
36004 S9 "VPAP S"
36005 S9 "AutoSet" (advanced autoset mode)
36006 S9 "VPAP Auto"
36007 S9 "VPAP Adapt" (older)
36009 S9 "VPAP ST-A" (older)
36034 S9 "VPAP COPD"
36037 S9 "VPAP Adapt"
36038 S9 "VPAP ST"
36039 S9 "VPAP ST-A"
36050 S9 "VPAP Tx"
36065 S9 "AutoSet" 'for her' Pink

notice, they're all s9 models, so, when someone says "I've got a s9" it doesn't tell you much

pretty much, the only real exception is the heated hoses that are offered on the resmed s9 and x60 series PR machines.... those can't swap between mfgrs.

everything else is interchangable.

zg, if your father used this hose with his machine (with the orange parts at the end), that is a heated hose and it would not work with a PR machine. It will work with any of the other S9 machines (Elite, Autoset....).

If you do not need or want a heated hose, a standard hose which fits both ResMed and PR machines is less than $10 new: https://www.cpap.com/cpap-hose/cpap-hose-tubing.php

The REF 450 will ensure that it is a full-data efficacy machine and not a "brick".
