stufffy runny nose
stufffy runny nose
My buddy is just starting with cpap therapy and he is getting real stuffy runny nose? I have it once in a while but not so bad I wouldn't use my machine, I think hes not using his because of it. ant thoughts on the subject out there?
Re: stufffy runny nose
Sometimes humidity is to blame, too much or too little, every one is different. Let him change the humidifier setting. Or he could have allergy from the mask.

Re: stufffy runny nose
Most likely related to the humidifier setting.
Google "cpap rhinitis"
There is no right or wrong setting as some people need more humidity and some people need less and the only way to know is to try changing the humidifier setting either way and see what happens.
If using a lower setting....try increasing it.
If using a higher setting....try decreasing it.
If using a middle setting..........toss a coin but if playing the odds more people need more moisture if cpap rhinitis is going on.
Warn your friend that sometimes it takes the nasal mucosa a couple of days to get back to being normal. When I had my nasal mucosa get too dried out with a lower setting it took me 3 days for the nasal mucosa to quit running, sneezing, and being congested.
Tell your friend to get some Simply Saline to use during the day...and to use it often.
