Restless Leg Syndrome.....help!
My wife and I both suffer with it from time to time, but when we take Magnesium 250 mg, it's gone in a few minutes. Pills or not our friends if something simple can replace them. Jim

RLS Options
Hi. This is the first I've heard of Neurosil, and I too am interested in hearing if any of this forum's home folks have used it. I'm a Mirapex user for RLS and PLMD. Have been meaning to try the Magnesium, will get some soon. Have low Ferritin level, taking Iron and Vit C to build up storage iron. Personally, I wish I had known to check into possible mineral deficiencies before 8 years of meds with lots of side effects. Now backtracking. Not sure if symptoms will be resolved but giving it a try. Lots of posts on RLS on this forum that can be searched.

I have been taking Requip for months now and find it really works well for me. It is the only prescription of its kind designed exclusively for RLS, as far as I'm aware. The pharmacy will not be able to substitute another formulary for this as there is none.
I found in the beginning, there was an extra added benefit. It helped to make me drowsy at bedtime about 20-30 mins. after taking it. I never found any residual drowsiness, either, the next day.
There are other prescriptions, such as Mirapex and Klonopin, that have been recommended to help with RLS, but they were initially formulated for other conditions. I believe Requip was soley formulated for this condition only.
I have read on this site that an iron deficiency can cause RLS, too. It may not be a bad idea to have your blood checked before beginning any medication at all.
Best of luck. Hope you get some relief.

And to add to Lori - my sleep doc ordered a ferritin blood level test. My CBC did not show anything to suspect a low iron count. My sleep doc always orders this test. My ferritin level was 13 and 12 is considered anemic. I am a female, pre-menopausal, so he put me on mega iron (I use So-fe). He wants my ferritin to be 60! I'm not there yet (only at 22), but am working on it. I would not take iron unless a doc says so since too much can be very harmful to your body. He has put me on Klonopin (I have an inner ear disorder as well) and it is helping. I think bringing my iron levels up will be the key here for me.
