Sleepyhead for Chromebooks, or Android?

Post by HungryGhost67 » Sun Aug 03, 2014 5:13 pm

Hello;

I had no luck opening the Sleepyhead file that I downloaded from SourceForge. I even tried downloading the "Direct Link" on SourceForge. I tried with both my Chromebook , and my S3.

Any ideas?

I believe it operates with Windows and Mac

I run Sleepyhead on a Linux distribution, but I have to compile it from the source code. I would assume, that if it will run on a chrome book, it would require the same.

I forgot it was open-source when I posted above. However, Google doesn't allow for side-loading anymore on the ChomreOS hardware. Any chance someone can compile this for ChromeOS and load it to the Web Store?

This is one of the few programs that is keeping me tethered to a Windows machine. I have a chromebox in my garage that I am thinking about swapping with the Windows computer.

What comes to my mind is: I have a Windows 8 cellphone...if there is a way to connect your sd card to a cell phone maybe you could get it on a phone, then ditch your windows computer. My phone is Nokia Lumia 822; like many phones and tablets, it uses a mini-sd card

Nope.. Sorry.. But the good news is plans are currently in progress to make this happen.

The Android, iOS and WinRT version of Qt Framework I build SleepyHead on top of doesn't support all the components the desktop version of SleepyHead uses.

I have done major work recently to reduce memory footprint to somewhere reasonable for these kind of platforms, but I've still got a bit of work to do to make it mobile friendly.

So the official answer is YES, SleepyHead will definitely be available soon on these platforms, but it won't be the same as the desktop version, it will likely have to have a different storage format and reduced number of graphs, unless cloud storage systems stream fast enough.. (I've also got plans for a "local" data server companion app to go with the SleepyHead desktop version, with an API and web interface)

I'm very much looking forward to the day it does work on tablets.. I'm guessing it will require a reasonably hefty tablet though. (Minimum dual-core, 2gb RAM (not storage), I'm not interested in targeting platforms with any lower specs outside of a simple statistics browser interface, but I'll know more later on..)

To be clear, it has always been my intention to make the Mobile platform versions of SleepyHead commercial (ie, a paid app available through the app store), as a way to support development.

But as I have always said, the desktop versions will always be open-source and free! I have no desire to go the "PRO" version crap everyone else seems to, and then leaves the basic version so basic it's boring.. (I guess there could be room for a "pro" version for doctors with better patient management instead of a profile selector, but it won't do a single ounce of data stuff different! Compliance charting? )

Right now, getting the 0.9.7 desktop release ready is my priority! And we're getting very close!

Can't wait for an Android version. That will be great. Sadly thought I had to stop using Sleepyhead because of occasional high AHI numbers in the thousands on my REMstar using Win 7 64 bit. Hope that gets worked out in newer versions.

as someone who's pulling his nightlys and compiling them myself, I can second the notion, 0.9.7 is looking *sweet* lots of neat new things on the graphs.
