Post a picture?

Post by Bookbear » Sun Jun 11, 2006 7:49 pm

I have put together a neat little device (well, I think its neat, anyway! ) to help suspend hoses if you do not have a headboard or do not want to punch holes in your wall. It would be best if I could post a picture of the device along with a list of materials needed. Can this be done? How?

Thanks!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.

you need to upload the pics to a host site and cross link them here using img tags.

Tooly, don't feel bad, I didn't know how either until one of our forum members (Lori) helped me months ago. Here's the info I received, and thanks again to Lori:

To do a photo inside a post, or a graph, etc., what they are telling you is that you need a site on the Internet where first you can put your "image" so it can have an address. I use http://www.photobucket.com. You can sign up for free and it allows you to upload all your photos there. Once you do, you have an actual "IMG" link to copy when you want to include it in a post of yours here. For instance, let's say you uploaded a graph from your MyEncore to this Photo Bucket site and want to put it in one of your posts. You go to the site and under the photo of the image that you've uploaded, there will be three links, one of which is an IMG link. You fully highlight and copy that link. When you want to include it in your post, wherever you want it to appear in the text box, you past that link and, voila, it should appear in your post. Just hit "preview" to make sure you got it right.

If you ever want to post a photo that is already on the Internet on another site or wherever, not your own on Photo Bucket, you highlight the photo, right click your mouse and copy down the URL address of the photo. When you insert it in your text box of the post you're writing, highlight that URL address and click the "Img" button at the top of the text box. That prepares the photo to be shown as an image in your post.

If you want to insert a link that when clicked on will take you to a specific page on the Internet, you do the same. Copy the web address into the post (http://www.whatever.com) and then highlight it, but click on "URL" at the top of the box and it will set it up as a hyperlink in your post.

Hope I'm not losing you.

Lastly, if you want to quote someone, just hit the quote button at the top right of that person's post. It will open up a new reply post with all that information set up to be in the quote, with the author's name in the gray header area. If you want to edit out all of what they wrote except one part, you just have to leave the iniital bracket [ that contains the word "quote" and the = sign and their name and leave the final bracket ], and make sure the end brackets [ ] containing the /quote, that that whole bracketed string with the /quote is right next to the last letter or punctuation mark in that quote. That way it will only quote the one part you're trying to have quoted. Otherwise, just hitting "quote" at the top of the person's post will quote their entire post. Perhaps you don't want that and just want to quote one section of a long post. That is why you'd do what i just described.
