I posted a few days ago that they had called me last minute and cencelled SS as I was walking out the door to go. I was all ready to call them in the morning and they surprised me first with a make-up date of 2 days later!
So I went last night and chose to use the Comfortlite 2 mask. The night seemed to go pretty good, he had to come in and put a chin strap on because he said I was "puffing". I slept pretty well, only woke up when I would start to turn or something and notice the mask.
Because I required a chin strap, should I try a different mask instead? I know I will be eventually having several masks, from what I read. I want to make sure to order the best I can because I have wonderful insurance. Any machine reccomendations would be appreciated. I did read something about a new machine coming out soon?
I feel alittle closer to getting back to normal...what a long process!
Thank you everyone for this great forum, it has made me feel so much better!
Last nights 2nd SS...need advice please!
Any nasal mask with give you the same mouthbreathing issues. Those can for many people be conquered by chin strap and/or tape (either or both depending on you personal situation).
A full face mask will eliminate mouth breathing issues as both your mouth and nose are in the mask. But it has its own leak issues and for some bridge of nose rubbing issues etc.
I started full face and changed to nasal with tape. I like the fact that the nasal interfaces don't obstruct my vision, and are less cumbersome. Whenever I use my FF mask, I can't seem to get a good seal and eliminate the dents it puts in my face. Maybe if I used it every day I could but I just like the nasal feeling. I still use it some though.
Really depends on you. If you can control your mouth breathing nasal interfaces are great. Many people here seem to have a full face mask for when they get a head cold and their nose is stuffed. Some use the full face mask all the time.
If your insurance is that good, consider getting a full face mask next, when they allow a new one, since you probably took the comfortlite 2 home with you. That way you will have a different option and something for head colds.
Look at other threads on this forum and the cpap.com charts about what people are buying from them to see what is popular. Of course not all things that are popular work well for everyone's face.

Thanks snoregirl, you know when I asked the tech if I take the mask with me he told me that they sterilize and re-use. I did see him open a brand new one for me to use.
I asked to use the Comfortlite 2 because it didn't have straps on the face, do the straps on your mirage bother at all? I guess using a chin strap anyway places straps on the face anyway. Have you found that women prefer one over another specifically?
Thanks again!

I don't care too much for where the lower strap is on the umff mask. I find it pulls at my neck. But that is the only ff mask I have tried, and overall it is pretty reasonable (comfort and leaks).
So to answer your question I think, the straps that touch my face don't really bother me, but the one around the bottom of the mask behind my neck is a little bothersome -- for me at least.
Can't really answer your question about women, or a variety of masks since my experience was with the umff and my swift (which I use most of the time with a bit of tape)
