Hello All,
My head gear for my masks seems to be curling fast and making it hard to use the Velcro.
can I iron it or something to flatten it back out?
thank you
Tom

Re: head gear curls
It would help us to answer your question if you would let us know what mask/headgear you are using. You mentioned masks, if you have more than one kind, let us know too please. This way, someone who uses or has used your headgear can answer more specifically. Since I don't have this problem, I wouldn't know how to answer.

Velcros hooks are plastic. If you iron them, they will likely melt and be completely useless. Did you wash the gear and throw it in the dryer? Heat can damage this stuff...you might try rewashing and lay it flat on a towel with something heavy on top to keep it from curling. If that doesn't work, you may want to bite the bullet and replace the headgear.

Re: head gear curls
Sometimes Velcro gets full of fuzzy stuff--if you can clean it out with a stiff brush or a tiny crochet hook,
it should give your headgear some extra life. if the curling is on ends that are too long and catch nothing but hair,
I trim them off--but only if they are too long and do nothing but get in the way.

Re: head gear curls
I've been dealing with this problem for years with no real solution.
Sometimes you can do the frog's suggestion with a sewing pin and sort of hook the dog hair and other fuzz that's accumulated and it helps.
Even after cleaning, the "velcroness" tends to go away after a while.
I've also found the curling problem you mention, and haven't found a solution to that either.
I've considered sewing new velcro on to the ends, but in many cases, the strap has to go through a slot to use it, so you'd have to make a very "flat" seam between the two pieces.
One thing that has worked in some cases was to stick the two ends together and use a safety pin, but that is only practical for cases where you don't have to adjust it or open it very often.
Something like the strap adjuster shown below might work if you put the velcro together and then slid it through the adjuster. You'd have to find the right size, though.
