Hello!
I'm a newly diagnosed severe OSA patient, been dealing with severe fatigue and other issues for years now, and finally got a diagnosis after three sleep studies. The first one, I never fell asleep so it was inconclusive, the second one was a home study which ended up being COMPLETELY inaccurate. The third time was a charm though, and my AHI the night of the study was 91. All of my doctors and RT's are completely baffled about why the home study didn't catch it, but oh well. I've been on CPAP for about four days now and feel a lot more refreshed in the mornings when I wake up... still having some fatigue issues in the afternoon but I doubt four days of CPAP are going to reverse the fatigue cycle that quickly. LOL
My question is about my machine. I apologize if this has been answered before but I've googled and searched on here and I just can't find out a whole heck of a lot of info about my machine, the PR System One Remstar SE. I want to know if it's compatible with any software that I can use to track my own therapeutic process. I have found out that it's not compatible with PR's Sleep Mapper, but I was wondering if I could use Encore or Sleepyhead. My machine does have the SD card to track compliance for the insurance company so I wondered if it tracks the same kind of data needed for Sleepyhead or Encore.

Compliance is hours of use only. So a machine that only offers compliance hours of use isn't going to offer anything else useful.
The SE model only records hours of use. Software for therapy details is useless since the machine doesn't gather anything useful.
You have what we not so lovingly call a "brick".
See this blog especially the part near the bottom "help I have been given a brick"

To have any useful data available from a Respironics PR System One machine you need model number 450 or higher. Anything below 450 offers nothing but hours of use on the SD card.

Thanks for the info and wonderful blog posts, pugsy! I was afraid that's what you were going to tell me. LOL I will have to check with my DME and insurance company, because if I'm not able to know how the cpap is working for me on a graphical basis, it will drive me batty! I've been wondering how my mask is working the last few days... I think it's leaking too much but how do I know if it's leaking TOO MUCH without data to support my concern? I'm surprised that any machine is made these days without being data capable... you'd think doctors and therapists would want that info for themselves, let alone for the patient to look at!

You might want to read this blog section also.
Insurance companies pay by HCPCS code and not model number....they pay the same for a full data machine as they would for compliance only machine...DMEs like to dispense the cheaper (to them) bricks and blame it on insurance companies but the truth is they simply make more money selling the less expensive machine.

Don't rely on DME to tell you what your insurance does...you call up your insurance company and get that information from the ins company.
Tell your DME you want a machine that provides efficacy data...leak data comment is good enough because any machine that collects leak data will collect the other data. Wanting to evaluate leaks is a reasonable request that they can't really pooh pooh off too easily.
If they won't provide you with what you want...go find a DME that will...and again check with your insurance company to find out who they work with in your area.
Some DMEs will cave pretty quickly when confronted with possibly losing a customer....some don't care so be prepared to move on if your DME won't give you what you want. I fired my first DME because they didn't care and wouldn't give me what I wanted.
Move now though...the longer you keep the brick the harder it is to get a swap done.
Also find out if your insurance does the rent to own thing or they buy the machine out right. With rent to own you have a little more leverage.
