I think I'm really lucky!

Post by warringtonwolves » Thu Jul 17, 2014 9:04 am

Just joined forum today. Spent some time looking through posts and gleaning information. I've had sleep apnea for over 5 years now. And had my Cpap machine for all that time. Wife's a nurse as am I so was spotted really quickly. The lucky bit is that I'm English and didn't really think of the finances involved in the diagnosis until I came on this forum. I had my sleep study on the NHS a month later given my full face mask and machine. Every year I'm reviewed by my consultant and given new mask, filters etc. if I break anything I phone a help line and the new parts are posted out (at times I'm a restless sleeper and break bits on my mask) within 48 hours. I used to feel very ill without the mask etc. now I feel great sleep 8 hours every day (I work nights) and never feel fatigued or nod off.
Reading the costs on here I feel lucky and proud of the national health service here in Britain.

Welcome to the forum.
I am glad you are doing well. Many people on the forum struggle with it and it is good for them to read success stories.

( Though you may get a bit of flack from our American cousins about your health system comments. It is a touchy subject with them)
