Power Problems

Post by Carolyn Bossard » Sun Jul 06, 2014 6:29 pm

Hi,
I cannot get my M-series Heated Humidified DOM unit to run on anything except a 115 volt plug at an RVV park or house power. I just got a new 12 volt cable and it will not work, I have a 400 watt converter and it will not work, the CPAP will not start ( the blower will not start although the light lites) I will check all the voltages next as the battery might be low.
Thanks
Carolyn

I was going to try to help but I don't understand....
What is a DOM unit?
Where did you get this 12V cable?

I do know some of the older (1st generation) M series humidifiers are not designed to work on 12V. You can still use it in passover.

Have you checked the voltages yet?

Is this label similar to the one on the back of your humidifier?
If so, then look on page 17 of the user manual for your machine where it discusses options for battery power.
NOTE: When the DC Power Cord is used, the humidifier will not heat up unless it is also plugged into an inverter. The blue LED will flash when the heater plate does not heat up. In this mode, the humidifier acts as a passover, or non-heated, humidifier.
Here is a link to the manual if you don't have one.

Hope this helps.

There are two flavors of M Series humidifiers. One runs off of wall power, one runs off of DC from the power supply brick. If there are two cords coming from the brick to the CPAP/humidfier, it's the AC version. The DC version has a cord going from the brick to the humidifier, and then a jumper plug over to the blower unit.

I'm not sure this explains Carolyn's problems, but it may help avoid some confusion.
